1st PCP; projectile weight questions...

I am about to drop the hammer on my 1st PCP. I'm going with an FX Panthera in .25. I haven't decided between the 6 or 700.
I have been looking at slugs and was surprised to see so many different weights available in the same product!
I know I want something heavy for my purposes, but is there any reason I shouldn't just go with the heaviest option and call it a day? Is there a "standard" or "most common" slug weight I should consider?

There is no one size fits all with pcp rifles and slugs. You will have to test to find the weight and size your rifle will shoot best. I have the 700mm panthera but its in .22. I do have a 700mm impact in .25 so it should be the same liner as the panthera. My .25 impact has the 16 twist slug liner and the H&N 38 gr. hollow point heavy .250 size slugs are working really good. All my FX slug setups shoot the H&N hollow point heavy slugs the best. I know other people report NSA, Zan and the JSB as shooting good but not in my experience compared to the H&N slugs. Buy different slugs in the weight ranges you want to use and test until you find the one that works best for you.

There are slugs out there sized for mammoth power 5-shots-per-fill beast guns as well as high power pellet PCPs (which is low power for slugs) and everything in between.

I'd start shopping in the 40-50gr range for a Panthera pushing 90fpe. Finding the right slug can be brutal considering how many varieties are out there and how few slug sellers offer 'sampler' products.

I've only shot someone else's Panthera (Centercut's 600mm, .25) shooting Altaros ATP smooth slugs. 49.5grain? I hope he'll chime in and correct me. This is my 2nd 5 shots at a 3" gong @ 200 yards!
