If you are new to airguns and platforms, I have put together a quick reference on when you should consider owning 2 air rifles vs 2 barrels and one platform.
Curious and realistically how long do you think it takes to switch from one caliber / barrel to the other with a perfect tune ?I definitely utilize the barrel swap system for one of my rifles (RTI compact) 177 barrel for pellets or slugs ,22 barrel for pellets or slugs and a 25 barrel for just pellets.. I took the time to tune each barrel writing down each reg and hammer spring setting for each barrel and tune I may want for a planned task.. it takes minutes to set it up. I however do have it's big brother that stays one caliber and never gets messed with.. the compact is my go-to so it I use it the most for pest removal or small game hunting
Depends. Two of my guns both use the same tune. Fx crown uses the same tune but has a hammer weight i throw in it for slugs. Got to remove the stock and all for that.Curious and realistically how long do you think it takes to switch from one caliber / barrel to the other with a perfect tune ?
Thanks Jaydog
RTI's barrel swap is silly easy and fast... I did actually time the swap.. not too long ago I went from a 177 to the 22. (RTI has a barrel install/removal tool that really speeds the swap up) it took 4 minutes.. a quick check to my notes I know going from a 177 shooting slugs to the 22 shooting pellets I have to adjust the reg down ... I back the hammer spring adjustment out all the way out flush and count how many turns in... Done... Outside I go for a quick chrony check.. I'm usually right where I need to be...(sometimes a hammer spring tweak) A few clicks on the scope and I'm shooting a 22 pellet and ready for target, pest or small game.. I would very safely say... 25 minutes total time. If I didn't already have all the settings wrote down it would definitely take longer to tune in. When I bought the little compact I planned on having multiple barrels. I took the time to learn it's reg/ammo preference, hammer spring settings..Curious and realistically how long do you think it takes to switch from one caliber / barrel to the other with a perfect tune ?

fx crown my first in 22, 500mm barrel then the wife let me have 500 bucks so i when and brought a 177/ 380mm barrel PLUS BOYS WHEN AND GOT 10 TINS OF JBS 10.34 GR.Depends. Two of my guns both use the same tune. Fx crown uses the same tune but has a hammer weight i throw in it for slugs. Got to remove the stock and all for that.
