2 Barrels VS 2 Airguns

🤔hmm...I mean...if I could find a more than 1 barrel setup in my price range....
🥴🤣
But I'd rather own more than 1 slinger that I could grab and go....rather than than have extra barrels(and other pieces of great importance)floating around and not putting something together correctly would be my downfall 😬
I'm not bashing it...just isn't in my price range or style🤷‍♂️😅

Some people can afford or justify multiple $2k guns. I cannot. I love some short barrels. But sometimes you need a long one. One of my rifles had a long .177 hw100 barrel (shoots slugs great) and a short .22 cal LW barrel (because why not). Another rifle had a short .22, medium .22 for slugs (50fpe), and a long-ish .30 cal (because why not). My .25 pistol does 48fpe in a short barrel, but I also have a carbine stock kit I can slap on it, and a long 15" barrel for 65fpe, like 48 isnt enough  Some people just cant be helped but to tinker.

I also have several more extra/spare barrels.

I definitely utilize the barrel swap system for one of my rifles (RTI compact) 177 barrel for pellets or slugs ,22 barrel for pellets or slugs and a 25 barrel for just pellets.. I took the time to tune each barrel writing down each reg and hammer spring setting for each barrel and tune I may want for a planned task.. it takes minutes to set it up. I however do have it's big brother that stays one caliber and never gets messed with.. the compact is my go-to so it I use it the most for pest removal or small game hunting

Curious and realistically how long do you think it takes to switch from one caliber / barrel to the other with a perfect tune ?

Thanks Jaydog

Depends. Two of my guns both use the same tune. Fx crown uses the same tune but has a hammer weight i throw in it for slugs. Got to remove the stock and all for that.

RTI's barrel swap is silly easy and fast... I did actually time the swap.. not too long ago I went from a 177 to the 22. (RTI has a barrel install/removal tool that really speeds the swap up) it took 4 minutes.. a quick check to my notes I know going from a 177 shooting slugs to the 22 shooting pellets I have to adjust the reg down ... I back the hammer spring adjustment out all the way out flush and count how many turns in... Done... Outside I go for a quick chrony check.. I'm usually right where I need to be...(sometimes a hammer spring tweak) A few clicks on the scope and I'm shooting a 22 pellet and ready for target, pest or small game.. I would very safely say... 25 minutes total time. If I didn't already have all the settings wrote down it would definitely take longer to tune in. When I bought the little compact I planned on having multiple barrels. I took the time to learn it's reg/ammo preference, hammer spring settings..

I have also been thinking about the barrel swap and I have an RTI Prophet II Performance 22 and thought about getting a 30 barrel so my question is does the barrel changing always change the zero on your scope when you go back to the original barrel? Does it shorten the longevity of the parts / rifle? Time vs money is the part I need to figure out on my own but I don't want to mess up the set up I have now and could possibly achieve what I need by just coming up with a heavy slug that works well in my 22 barrel, which may throw off my original zero.

Depends on the ammo. For pellets I can get my FX barrels swapped and tune in less than 15 minutes. Slugs usually take longer as it requires more fine tuning but usually less than 30 minutes.

That being said why choose between 2 guns and 1 gun with 2 barrels? Why not many guns with many more barrels? 🤣
