I've been shooting powder burners for years, but the recent shortages on firearms, ammunition, and components have dampened my shooting and has forced me to conserve on consumables. Over the last week I've dived in head-first into airguns, and got on the pre-order list for an EDGun Leshiy 2 long in .25cal. (I've been thinking about a PCP airgun for a while, but when I saw the Leshiy 2, I knew that was it) I also placed an order for a Hawk AirMax 4-16x FFP scope.
So next on the list is a scope mount - when I configured my PB rifles I've never considered shooting beyond 500~600 yards with either my .308 or .223 rifles, so I've always went with 0MOA mounts. I'm picking up bits and pieces from the comments here that airguns have an even more pronounced rainbow trajectory, so does this mean I should be considering a 20MOA mount? Although I plan to do some hunting with it, I don't anticipate my personal maximum ethical kill range to be beyond 50 yards - it'll most likely be 25-30 yards, if that. I do contemplate the possibility of 100 yard shots, but that would only be on paper or steel. Again, I think the reality here is that it'll be much shorter than that.
After I had already placed the order for the Hawk Airmax, I came across this well-written post on the difference between PB and AG scopes: Choosing an AIRGUN Scope vs. POWDER BURNER Scope —
What's the Difference?!? - Airgun Nation It looks like I made the correct choices in prioririzing short distance parallax adjustments and having good holdoff reticles, rather than trying to press a PB scope into AG service.
Thanks ahead of time for any guidance!
