Remarks:

We had 18 people attend the match. We had shooters coming from CT, NJ, NH and MA.

The day was cloudy with potential to get rained out, but the rain did not start until all had finished shooting. We had lucked out with the weather.

For this match, we had a new break barrel class for novice shooters with break barrel rifles to encourage them to enjoy shooting field target.

This field target match had all full-sized kill zones, and it was rated easy via AAFTA’s course planner.

We used the police range for practice. At 9:45 am, we ended the practice session and had a shooter’s safety meeting. We paired up novice shooters with experienced shooters and sent them to their assigned lanes. We had the typical one standing and one kneeling lane. We had several cold lines with line swivels breaking and strings getting tangled. We had people shoot targets from near to far.

We had several lanes intersect other lanes at the far targets. Thankfully, people did not shoot the wrong target.

When the last person took their final shot, we started cleaning up the course. With the help of all the shooters, it took several minutes to gather up the field targets, clamps, and strings.

It was another enjoyable day in the woods for both novice and experienced shooters alike.

Next match: October 24th Sunday

Another great match. Thanks for all you do for the club (and the sport) Leo. Also, having the support of the guys from Rockville Fish & Game helps.

Really good idea for the break barrel class. Great way to get folks into the sport with a break barrel from their local department store and not have to break the bank. Really, it's such a different experience after 60 shots to see that you got 30+ face plate hits as opposed to getting single digit knock downs. I hope other clubs consider this.
