Shout out to brand new shooter Joe Hayward!
This was his very first match and introduction to AAFTA Field Target. He came with a .22 cal bull pup hunting air rifle and without a bipod, site dope or any info about how to play the game.
After some conversations and basic instructions about stable shooting positions, I asked if he would like to borrow my back up USFT #44 already set up for Hunter class.... He said he sure would.
On Day one he hadn't remembered or understood the hold over markings on my sidewheel, and was counting the half mil dots as one, so he was way off on his holdover for the close and long shots, but still shot a 34/60.
Day two, with the correct holdover understood, he shot a 50/60! ... The same or close to the score as many of our top west coast shooters.
After that, he wanted to buy the gun and Hawke scope.. and I had to sell it to him after such a great performance.... so watch out folks, Hunter class just got a little more competitive!
