I hope everyone had a fine holiday season… and Santa wasn’t aware how bad you’ve all been!
However I’m a-guessin’ most of you got a new BB gun for Christmas anyway. That being almost a given, I suspect many of you are as primed for the 2023 TEXtreme competitions season as Maggyy and I.
Our 2023 TEXtreme season brings with it a few changes and evolutions that I hope are well received. First and foremost are changes to our TEXtreme monthly matches program and schedule.
You should all save this email, and PRINT THE NEW 2023 MATCHES SCHEDULE FOR ONGOING REFERENCE. Just… trust me!
Warning- questions addressed repeatedly in TEXtreme emails and match announcements might, just might be answered with something along the lines of, “Per the email containing the rules you received yesterday (or last week), NO!”
Which brings us to a reminder worth repeating (again). I consider entering any TEXtreme competition to also be a contract by the shooter to have read, know, and understand the pertinent rules for that competition. That said, I’m happy to explain any(thing) you’re not sure about.
Rather than shooting Extreme FT matches four times a year (quarterly), and Bench-Rest Silhouette matches all other eight months, in 2023 we’ll now do EFT, BRS, and AAFTA style field target matches each on a quarterly basis. However, ALL MATCHES WILL REMAIN ON THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THEIR RESPECTIVE MONTH(S). The only exceptions to the first Saturday schedule will be when we include PISTOL FT matches that will (now) be shot on different days than rifle matches, rather than on the same days as rifle matches. The exact pistol FT match schedule is still a work in progress, but will be announced upon completion of that puzzle.
2023 Bench-Rest Silhouette matches will be held quarterly on the first Saturday of the first, fourth, seventh, and tenth calendar months- January, April, July, and October,
2023 AAFTA style Field Target matches will be held quarterly on the first Saturday of the second, fifth, eighth, and eleventh calendar months- February, May, August, and November.
2023 Extreme Field Target matches will again be held quarterly on the same calendar months as they were in 2022; that being the first Saturday of the third, sixth, ninth and twelfth calendar months- March, June, September, and December.
Shooters meetings and match start times will continue to be adjusted as needed in all matches to accommodate priorities like Daylight Savings Time, course transitions, convenience, and other realities. Hence, please, please, PLEASE pay attention to match announcements prior to every match every month, in order to stay abreast/informed of specific match times.
As in 2022, our two biggest matches in 2023 will again be our Extreme Field Target Grand Prix event the first weekend in June, and the TEXtreme Field Target State Championships the first weekend in December. All four Extreme Field Target matches will award Airguns Of Arizona gift certificates thanks to our sponsor’s most generous support. THANK YOU Airguns Of Arizona! And again as in 2022, in 2023 the big Grand Prix and State Championships weekend events will be multi-day celebrations featuring richer prize lists.
Our TEXtreme Field Target course will continue to evolve in 2023. Thanks to Team Centercut’s generous donation of another extreme field target (Elmo, no less; who just might experience some ‘transition’ himself), we now can have 57 shot EFT matches. THANK YOU Team Centercut/Mike Bricker!
And hopefully, by hook or by CROOK (more likely), sometime in 2023 that shameless TEXtreme Match Director will secure the last target needed to reach our goal of twenty targets, in order to have sixty-shot matches. That stated, I'll close with a related word of caution-
Y’all might want to mind your wallets even more closely than ever when in close proximity to that old bandit!
