Events 2024 August 2-4 Rockville Fish & Game Club Field Target Grand Prix - Vernon, CT

Date: August 2nd – 4th
Location: Rockville Fish & Game Club, Fish & Game Rd, Vernon, CT 06066
Air Gun Events – RF&G Club (rockvillefishandgameclub.com)
Event:
  • Friday – 10 lane 20 target 40 shot pistol FT and all standing match at Club House range course (Gate A)
  • Hunter Divisions
    • Saturday & Sunday – 15 lane 30 target 60 shot rifle FT match (Gate B)
  • WFTF, Open Divisions
    • Saturday & Sunday – 25 lane 50 target 50 shot rifle FT match (Gate B)
Water and other beverages will be available all three days during the match.
Match Fee: $90 (includes pistol match and two-day rifle match, lunch two days, t-shirt included)
Signing a waiver and wearing eye protection is required.
Communal 4500 PSI carbon fiber air tank will be available all three days.
Tapered knee roll and offhand stand will be provided at the positional lanes.

Schedule of Events:
Friday
  • 10 am – Gates open, registration open. Practice range open. Chronograph station open
  • 2 pm – Start shooter safety meeting. Squads/scorecards assigned.
  • 2:15 pm – Pistol field target match begins.
Saturday
  • 8 am – Gates open, registration open.
  • 9 am – Practice range open. Chronograph station open.
  • 10 am – Practice range closes, start shooter safety meeting.
  • 10:15 am – Rifle field target match begins.
  • 2 pm – Rifle match ends. Lunch is served. Scores tallied. Leader board updated.
Sunday
  • 8 am – Gates open. Practice range open. Chronograph station open.
  • 9 am – Practice range closes, start shooter safety meeting.
  • 9:15 am – Rifle field target match begins.
  • 1 pm – Rifle match ends. Lunch is served. Scores tallied. Leader board updated.
  • If there are tie scores, shoot off will be held at the practice range.
  • 2 pm – Awards and then Giveaway prizes are handed out.
Grand Prix based on AAFTA rules (www.aafta.org)
Pistol Divisions
  • Limited – Seat, 12 FPE max, 12x max magnification.
  • Hunter – Seat, Shooting sticks, 12 FPE max, 12x max magnification.
Rifle Divisions
  • Hunter PCP – 20 FPE max, 16x max magnification, Seat, Shooting Sticks
  • Open PCP – 20 FPE max, Seat, Leg Straps, Sticks
  • WFTF PCP – 12 FPE max, bum bag
  • Hunter Piston - 20 FPE max, 16x max magnification, Seat, Shooting Sticks
  • WFTF & Open Combined Piston.

Thanks to all that made this GP happen - as per last year snacks and drinks were delivered to the shooting lines - this year the RFG taxi was in use for the Fire Road shooters. Frienships with shooters and their families established, renewed or strengthened.
The courses were challenging and the dense leaf coverage made the ranging of dark targets equally so.
If you can make the trip next year, do so. You will not be disappointed.
