Huben 2024 k1 .22 and slugs

I've been chasing the slug gun for a while now. Never was happy with the fx stuff, despite it having a lot of potential.
After finding sweet love with the gk1, I talked to Kelly and swapped my older synthetic k1 for a new 2024 k1 limited in .22, to sort of match the gk1. I was really hoping the excellent experience I had with the gk1 and slugs would translate to the newer k1.

Well, it was a bit of a journey too - what we found was the newer k1's are liking MUCH higher reg pressure and power wheel clicks to produce power - but it still does! We also swapped the magazine for a 2018 12 groove model to match the barrel grooves (the new mags are apparently 6 groove).

After all that, and a few shots to help settle it in, I have it shooting pretty well! Shot it at 50, 75, and 100 yards, hitting steel on almost every shot. Below is a 5 shot group from 50 yards, and a shot of the siblings hanging out together!
Reg pressure: 170 bar
power wheel: 29 clicks
ammo: AVS 36gr flat base slugs
velocity: 900fps
fill pressure: 350bar
shots per fill: 3 mags (57 shots)

Great shooting! How loud is the gun at that power level? Would a neighbor 100' away be aware it was an air rifle shooting?
Yes, it is definitely noticeable but not offensive. I live in the country tho. The smack of pellet on steel is still louder, but the gun does make a bit of a snap. My 32fpe .22 pellet guns without a moderator are louder - the shroud does do a LOT, but its not a whisper by any means.

Very nice! My .22 is a 2021 gun, and I bought an extra mag and LW barrel set from a 2018 gun to set it up for better accuracy with pellets (Kelly had them available - possibly left over from one of John's custom guns ;)). The 2021 Mag had six grooves as well, and I can tell you that my 2018 mag is a bit smaller in diameter than the 6 groove 2021 mag - I have found some slugs that fall right through the 2021 mag will fit in the 2018 mag . . .

Just thought that might be interesting to share - but obviously your results are great with it!

Kelly has a whole box of 2018 mags because of this. My 2024 mag had .223 slugs falling through 2 chambers! The AVS slugs, I forgot to mention, are .2193 and fit perfectly in the 2018 mag.

I've got the factory barrel on it.

What ammo did you find fits the 2018 mags?

@wimpanzee That sounds promising. What are you using to seat them? Do they move forward much when you push them in the mag chamber with your finger?
So I can push them in snug with my finger, the pad of skin can barely depress it past flush, and they stay snug.
sometimes if i am trying to sight it in or something, I have a 2mm seating tool I make, and I will press them in with that, they are a little more snug...

@wimpanzee That sounds about like what I'm experiencing, but I don't feel them catch when I push. Thanks for the info. It helps.
