TN STATE MATCH 2024
We had a really great match, with folks traveling from Atlanta, East Tennessee, Mississippi and Indiana, seventeen people came out to compete and enjoy the wonderful weather and slightly naughty winds!
JD Garland came out and shot his .20 cal barreled Steyr and did well, as well as adding another excuse to my 101 FT excuses, he had surgery on his shoulder recently and it hindered his performance, as we all get older I seem to be getting more excuses to add to my list….
Matt Judd, at just his FIFTH FT match got top score and the famed red hat to be the TN State Champion for 2024 – look out, he will be entering WFTF class next season!! High Senior went to Ron Brown, and High Junior went to Grey Summerlin. Ken Hughes, fresh from his US Nationals Championship piston class win was only one point away from the top score with his TX200, and Mike Wright also was just one point off the top score in Open Class!
Ross Sumpter and Robert Shimizu came out to visit, and everyone enjoyed our traditional lunch at Hickory House afterwards, great times with great folks. I had hoped to make it a two day match, but life has gotten in the way this year, but keep your fingers crossed for next year? Cliff Smith couldn’t make the match, but his Yosemite Sam target did, and it brought a smile to quite a few of us old timers!
Our season is winding down, and while we have had a drought for the last three months, on the drive to the restaurant, it rained, and with storms forecast in a few days, so it looks like the weather will once again dictate as to wether the last two scheduled matches will actually occur, so pay attention to your emails!
I want to thank Brad Troyer who once again came out and added some challenges to the course, as well as weed wacking the lanes, he is a major reason this club is enjoyable! Also, thank you to all who made it out to what was a throughly enjoyable match, I hope to see you soon, but if not, have a wonderful Thanksgiving and Christmas!!
God Bless
