2024 TEXtreme Airgun Sports program

Happy New Year Friends,

I probably should have composed and sent this sooner; but I’m old, senile, and a procrastinator. My finest qualities!

Gonna try to not only keep this short as possible to announce the 2024 TEXtreme Airgun Sports program, but also keep changes to the TEXtreme program minimal.

However I am considering adding a TEXtreme FT class similar to NRA Silhouette Sporter Class (for less equipment-centric shooters). If so, I don’t see how it would adversely affect other shooters, other than diluting the prize pool.

I fall on the side of enforcing well within blurry boundaries, rather than to, or beyond. Point is, if you show up with, or use, something that might be subject to interpretation, don’t be surprised if I disallow it; before a match if I’m aware, or possible DQ if I wasn’t aware until after the fact.

Sometimes, rather than DQ or not let that shooter compete, the shooter might be allowed to shoot the match with the knowledge his result will not be eligible for prizes. In such cases match fees are not discounted.

The genius of these policies and/or a new class is they avoid adding any new rules. Yet exclude no-one.

Something I’ve become aware of recently is an excellent example. Apparently some shooters are fabricating pistol stocks with very long grips, or adding extensions to the bottom of their pistol grip. The only reason for such long pistol grips would be to rest against the body or ground for additional support. I won’t allow it. If you’d like to use something like that in a match, you may, but won’t be eligible for prizes. If you’d prefer I make another rule to that effect, I can do that.

The TEXtreme competitions schedule remains the same for 2024 as it was in 2023; no changes there. However it’s un-simple enough to bear repeating. You might want to print and keep this for reference.

Weather permitting, all TEXtreme matches are THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH. Multi-day competitions happen on the weekend of THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH.

There are three flavors of TEXtreme competitions. Bench-Rest Silhouette (rifle), AAFTA-style Field Target (rifle & pistol), and Extreme Field Target (rifle & pistol).

Each competitions flavor is shot quarterly; four times per year, every third calendar month.

Bench-Rest Silhouette (rifle) is January, April, July, and October.

AAFTA-style Field Target (rifle & pistol) is February, May, August and November.

Extreme Field Target (rifle & pistol) is March, June (Grand Prix), September, and December (TEXtreme FT State Championships).

Shooters meetings and match times vary for all flavors of TEXtreme matches for several reasons. Please pay attention to the match announcements for times, changes, weather cancellations, and other details.

Closing on a happy note. After countless meetings between the TEXtreme Airgun Sports’ legal team (Dewey, Cheatum & Howe) and our original and primary sponsor Airguns Of Arizona’s paralegal apprentice, AoA will again be our primary sponsor in 2024. THANK YOU AIRGUNS OF ARIZONA! Shooters, please support our generous sponsor.

Attached are TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette, TEXtreme Rifle Field Target, and TEXtreme Pistol Field Target rules. Also a map of the area around the TEXtreme Airgun Sports Global Headquarters Shooting Complex; including the landmarks of Waco, Lake Whitney, and the Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club.

I’ve surely forgotten something(s) pertinent. So don’t be surprised if other information follows.

HAPPY SHOOTING!
Ron & Maggyy

Man I am really looking forward to this coming year of competition. I always really enjoy my time and appreciation your hospitality that you offer us. Every match Ranchito Robinson brings in arguably the best talent pool across the board in the nation. It’s going to be a fantastic year.

I am wondering though about the proposed Sporter class especially when the GP match comes about. If the 1st place winner of the “other” class would typically win 4 GP points for their win would they have to now split those 4 points with the Sporter winner?

As for diluting the prize pool. What about only giving prizes for 1st-3rd and not 1st through 5th for Sporter and “other” class?

"Sporter" Class would not be eligible for GP points at the TexTreme EFT GP in June...

Rules below:

EFT GP 2023-2024 rules

PS., winner can't be awarded more than 3 points. The FIRST event that a shooter participates in the season he earns 1 GP point. Any subsequent events that he shoots he earns 1/2 point. The "prize points" are independent of the "participation points". So, if a shooter wins his first event of the year he would "earn" 3 points and be awarded 1 additional participation point, for a total of 4 GP points.

Thanks for the nice compliments and input, OA. An additional class not recognized by the Grand Prix series would mean the additional, more limited equipment class shooters would compete for the same GP points at the TEXtreme Grand Prix as the other shooters.
