Happy Holidays, Friends. ’Tis the season to ponder the 2025 TEXtreme season.

TEXtreme remains an Extreme Field Target Grand Prix venue in 2025. As before, our (three-day) Grand Prix weekend will remain the first weekend of June; that being Friday, June 6, through Sunday, June 8. I expect no particular changes to our previous format of a sixty-shot Pistol competition on Friday, followed by two sixty-shot rifle matches (on Saturday and Sunday) for aggregate Rifle competition results.
The only substantial change for the 2025 TEXtreme Airgun Sports season will be COMBINING the 2025 Grand Prix competition with the 2025 TEXtreme State Championships; the results determining both the 2025 TEXtreme Grand Prix champions and 2025 TEXtreme State Champions. To further clarify, there will NOT be a separate 2025 TEXtreme Pistol and Rifle State Championships next December. Why?
The last two TEXtreme State Championships having been contested in December rains, that not only supressed turn-out by thirty to sixty percent, but increased the match director’s work load by more than that.
I won’t risk that again.
With shooters attending from several states, investing in flight and hotel reservations, or long drives, and time off work or retirement, it isn’t feasible to cancel championship weekends due to threatening weather. They must happen not only despite precipitation forecasts, but when realities live up to forecasts. So with foul weather chances being magnitudes less likely in June than December, “do the math”.
There are three benefits to combining the 2025 Grand Prix and State Championships as described above. 1) The (single) championships weekend in 2025 will feature the richest prize list in TEXtreme history. 2) The other three TEXtreme Field Target weekends in 2025 will feature a bit richer prize lists than those (lesser) TFT weekends of the past. 3) Last, but not least, the decrepit old match director’s life becomes easier in 2025!
That stated, I’ll repeat two oft-repeated Ron Robinson quotes- A) “Despite all appearances
