Happy New Year, Y'all!
Notwithstanding one deviation in the 2024 season TEXtreme match schedule due to popular demand for an additional opportunity for shooters to fine-tune their equipment and selves for the 2024 EFT Grand Prix final, the 2025 TEXtreme match schedule remains as before. Anyone know what that schedule was? ANYONE? Hence, the reason I keep the match schedule as SIMPLE as possible to still accommodate our three preferred competition disciples.
TEXtreme Airgun Sports gives airgunners interested in enjoying high-powered airguns in long-range competitions three disparate competition disciplines in which to imbibe in such behavior(s) monthly. All TEXtreme competitions are held THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH; or in the case of multi-day competitions, ON THE WEEKEND OF THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH. Each of those three types of competitions are held on a quarterly basis (every third month), as follow-
So as to repeat myself as simply as possible, weather permitting the Bench-Rest Silhouette matches will take place in January, April, July and October; Twenty Foot Pound Maximum Pistol and Rifle Field Target matches are scheduled for February, May, August and November; and Hundred Foot Pound Maximum Extreme Field Target matches will take place in March, June, September and December.
Some related notes TEXtreme Airgun Sports competitions should be aware of-
A) The TEXtreme Match Director ENFORCES ALL RULES. Should it become necessary, rule-violation punishments will fit the crime. Ignorance of ANY rule is no defense. Entering any competition is considered a contract to abide by the rules of that competition. Consequently, it behooves all competitors to know, understand, and abide by all rules.
B) Weather permitting, our June TEXtreme Field Target weekend will not only be three days of sixty-shot matches, but also the regional leg of Airgun Of Arizona’s season-long national 2025 Extreme Field Target Grand Prix, AND the 2025 TEXtreme Rifle & Pistol Field Target State Championships. As befitting this combining of our previously two largest competitions each year into one, three-day weekend in 2025, it will feature the richest prize-list in TEXtreme Airgun Sports history. To repeat myself, “should that be a success in terms of PARTICIPATION, it could become permanent. Suffice to say that onus rests in YOUR hands”, come June.
All two of you that have read this far might have noticed a recurring theme in the schedule above. The disclaimer ‘weather permitting’ means the match director decides if the weather is too extreme (in any way) to stage a competition, or not worth my efforts due to suppressed attendance.
As I compose this, indications are an optics company is again coming aboard with sponsorship support in 2025. The details yet to be revealed, should that come to pass the effect would be increased prize-lists in the other three TEXtreme Field Target competitions of 2025. This is when I usually say something utterly profound like I could tell you more, but then I’d have to kill you. However, I am denied that luxury because I don’t know more to tell you (yet). Perhaps next week.
I’ll close by stating that for multiple reasons alluded to above, I’m again very excited about the upcoming 2025 TEXtreme season. Hopefully the changes and evolutions achieve desired effects; those being- 1/A) More FUN for all of us. 2/B) More/better accommodation(s) of your preferences/priorities. 3/C) Morer, betterer, richerer prizes! 4/D) Increased participation (the more, the merrier).
HAPPY SHOOTING Y’all!

All TEXtreme competitions are held THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH; or in the case of multi-day competitions, ON THE WEEKEND OF THE FIRST SATURDAY OF THE MONTH. Each of those three types of competitions are held on a quarterly basis (every third month), as follow-
- Weather permitting, our 2025 Bench-Rest Silhouette matches will take place on the first Saturdays of January, April, July and October. These are the ONLY TEXtreme competitions held at the Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club, eleven miles from the TEXtreme Airgun Sports venue. Current TEXtreme Bench-Rest Silhouette rules and particulars are attached, as also is a map of the TEXtreme Airgun Sports/Central Texas Rifle & Pistol Club/Waco/Lake Whitney area.
- Weather permitting, our 2025 Twenty Foot Pound Maximum Field Target matches will take place on the first Saturdays of February, May, August and November. Although those matches prioritize challenging courses for Extreme Pistol FT shooters, they allow any airgun (pistol or rifle) producing no greater than 20 foot pounds of muzzle energy. The courses feature high Pistol Troyer-factor difficulties of 45 to 50T, which translate to Rifle Troyers in the high 20s. That being the case, Rifle shooters will find those matches an excellent opportunity to enjoy more trigger-time with their spring-piston, multi-pump, Co2 or PCP rifles in competition settings. Additionally, since Texas airgunners get very few opportunities to exercise their (twelve foot pound maximum) AAFTA Field Target pistols, our February course will be set to equally accommodate twelve foot pound maximum pistols. Should that (twelve foot pound maximum) accommodation be a success in terms of participation, it could become permanent. That onus rests in YOUR hands, come February. The Pistol TFT rules are attached. AAFTA Pistol rules can be found at aafta.org.
- Weather permitting, our 2025 Hundred Foot Pound Maximum Extreme Field Target matches will take place on the first Saturdays of March, June, September and December. Extreme Field Target being TEXtreme Airgun Sports primary focus, those matches will always fall on the first Saturday of their scheduled months. However, since one or more of those matches will involve multiple days of competition, the Pistol and/or second Rifle match on those (multiple match) weekends will take place on Friday, Sunday, or both… of the first Saturday of the weekend. Rifle TFT rules and Pistol TFT rules are attached.
