N/A .22 Cal Custom PP800 Pistol

Hello everyone,

I have “put together” several Artemis, Bandit, Snowpeak PP800 in .177 cal in the past, so I decided to Custom Build a .22 cal this time. I started with a bare PP800 Receiver and added a custom 11.25 inch long Barrel that was threaded on the Crown end with a 1/2-20 thread to accept a Moderator. I installed a complete AR Conversion from Buck Rail and also a Buck Rail Moderator. I added a Dovetail to Picatinny Rail Riser adapter so that I could use various Picatinny mount scopes . I have the trigger pull, set right at 2-pounds which is perfect for me. For now I am using a Red Dot Scope by Pinty 1*30, Tube 38mm, Lens 30mm, 2 MOA. With the current Red Dot Scope this little dude only weights in at 3-pounds and 10-ounces. Currently I am shooting JSB Jumbo 15.89gr pellets at 500FPS giving 8.82 FPE and is very accurate. My plan is to experiment a lot with various weight Wadcutter pellets to shoot paper targets indoors this winter and it will be my primary squirrel gun.

I am enjoying shooting this gun more than any other PCP that I have owned. So simple and basic but very accurate. I added a Bi-Pod and have been shooting a bunch of paper targets indoors this morning with the Red Dot scope. I will switch this scope out later on today and hopefully get to shoot targets outdoors.

You need to build one for yourself, "it's a hoot to shoot"

I have more than enough projects at the moment .
I really do like the tan furniture and the dot sight. Compliments the gun well.

I have owned I think 5 others and always enjoyed shooting them. Building this one from a basic receiver and then adding the barrel and Buck Rail items really made it special. The Buck Rail add on are not expensive so the completed Pistol is still less than $500.00.

Hello everyone,

I may have to name this new Pistol the Ninja 22 . I was in my shop and looked out the window at the bird feeders and there are two Squirrels about one foot apart eating some of the black sunflower seeds that had falling on the ground. I carefully slide open the window just enough to stick the Moderator out. Dropped the first squirrel and he never moved an inch . Loaded another pellet, took aim and dropped the second squirrel . There were some Cardinals in one of the feeders and they just kept on eating, this little Pistol/Carbine is so quite and I love it.

I have now eliminated 5 with my new rig.

Hello everyone,

I am messing around some more with my Custom PP-800R .22 cal . I trimmed the Hammer Spring two full coils and adjusted the Regulator to one full turn up ( CCW ) from all the way down ( CW ).

Shooting RWS Hobby Sport Line 11.9gr Wadcutter pellets, I can get over 40 shots per fill but accuracy drops off after shooting two full magazines ( 14 shots ). The attached photo is a paper target shot indoors at 15-feet. I have shot 7 squirrels to date, at distances out to over 10-meters.

The second photo are the results of three test shots using JSB Jumbo 15.89gr pellets. I still have some testing to do with various Hammer Springs.

I'm not real sure because I am building the Pistol not to be on the high power side, but to be more toward the low power and to achieve more shots per fill.

A stock PP-800R in 22 cal shooting pellets in the 14 to 16gr normally will get one mag ( 7 ) real good shots per fill at around 650FPS.

As you can see from my current "tune" I am getting 14 shots per fill shooting 15.89gr, but I still have 140 Bar reserve air. I am still in the "tuning" stage and my goal is to be able to shoot 4 magazines ( 28 shots ) with some reserve air above 70 Bar. Currently I can shoot a third mag but the accuracy suffers a bit.

So far it is shooting very accurate out to 10-Meters, I have not shot any targets beyond 10-meters. However I have shot several squirrels out past 10-Meters .

Here's a string from my p700 with CPHPs. I'm getting a decent shot count at around 650 fps. I've only messed with the HS adjustment and will try some better pellets in the near future. My first shot was just under 700 fps then it gets more consistent.

So you are getting 20 shots at a very good consistent rate, that is really good.

I have shot other pellets but use the same JSB 15.89 for all my comparison test. Once I get it tuned exactly where I want it ( if possible ) I will then try and find the best pellet.

ThomasT , the Jumbo RS 13.43gr are doing OK for me . Glad I have some pics to remember what pellets I was using. Lol I can get around one inch 5 shot groups with CPHPs at 20y.

Are you using Hades ? I have some but haven't tested them for accuracy yet in the pistol. Oops is see you were using Jumbos .

I found a target like yours from 6 yards , so close to your distance, and using a reddot. Yours looks much better but I think it was my first try . I'll blame the pistol format . Lol That target is not easy to shoot at a greater distance with a dot . Great shooting btw .

So around 30 shots if a larger ES is acceptable. That's from 1800-800 bar a little under the 200b fill. Nice job on your low power tunes and great information.

I have shot some of the 13gr along with several others and they shot OK.

Yep a Red Dot Scope covers up the Bulls Eye on most paper targets but still fun to shoot at

Try shooting this Red Dot Scope Target, I designed it just for Dot Scopes.
