As we all know, the STB, is a smooth bore till the last 5 inches where its choked and rifling gives it the gyroscope effect to the projectile. It's mounted on a AZ tuned, Buddie Bottled, HW100. Very accurate pellet and slug gun. 74 shots per fill with a 480cc bottle.
STB in .22 has around 1:16 twist but for the ballistic program you need to mention 1:60 as in STB when the pellet exits the muzzle, it completes one rotation in around 60 inches.
The reason being that the pellet archives maximum fps before touching the grooves at the end of the muzzle.
At that high fps 1:16 twist rate is not enough to make the effective twist rate as high.
The pellet skids out of the grooved area and gets a slight rotation that is around 1:60.
Thanks for information. I’m a new newbie to air guns. I’ve just been browsing through the forums/posts as a way to educate myself. Hopefully I can tell the difference between fact and fiction. DB
