Would you rather have a .22 or .25 Air Venturi Avenger or should i wait for the Avenge X to come out and buy a Venturi off somebody cheaper than new price. Will be used for rabbits and birds around my garden due to making it quieter than my 10/22

I have a 22 wood stock version and love it, but I would choose a 25 cal if I could do it again. Only reason is the power potential in 25 cal with a few easy mods. Mine is modded and super accurate and will shoot light weight slugs and Hades great so I still really enjoy it.

I went with the 22 because you can buy cheap pellets for it. I like to play with the cheap stuff and hunt vermin with the good pellets. Took three ground hogs yesterday at 50 and 65 yards with JSB 25 grain.

Age old debate, .22 vs. .25. If you want to read the many threads, the archives await. For me, it's .25, currently have 5, just love the caliber. I'll assume your budget precludes the Avenge X for yourself, it's possible more Avengers will show up upon the release, but I see good Avenger deals frequently in Classifieds now. Recommend wood stock over plastic. You'll need 10 quality posts and ten days for permission to use Classifieds. "Quality" posts can be any worthwhile comment in a thread, "Awesome," "Cool," "Wow!" not so much. Find an interesting thread and join in with questions or comments, before you know it, you're there. I have both and they are equally accurate but as previously mention the price of the ammo is the deciding factor in which one I shoot the most.

Might as well wait for the avenge x. In this price category I would forget used. Everyone wants so close to new price you might as well buy a new gun. As for caliber I like the 25 as it holds up better in the wind and 25.39 aren’t much more than jsb 18.1.
Hey guys i went ahead and bought a refurb from Pyramydair in .25 cal. Let the fun begin. I wish boyds made stocks for them. Might have to order a blank and have fun.

How bad is it to pump one of these up with a hand pump? Dont have the funds for a compressor

I prefer to think of it in terms of effort per shot. A .22 cal running at 30fpe (e.g. 18gr at 860fps) will need about 3 pump strokes per shot. Of if you're just punching paper and can run it at something closer to 12 - 15fpe, you're only looking at 1 to 1.5 pumps per shot. Or a .25 cal running at 50fpe, 5 strokes per shot.

to me it would depend on how well the 22 shoots Crosman domes and Hollow point, I have lots, if it doesn't do well then .25 would be the pick, I have lots of JSB and Benjamin .25's too.

My 25 caliber plastic stock Avenger really likes FX 25.39s. I had pumped it when I first got it and pumping it to 300bar was not fun. I think I only did it once. Mostly I pumped it up to 3000-3500. I would keep the regulator at 2000 psi or less and use pellets no heavier than 25.39s if you will hand pump it. That will give you a decent number of shots without the need to fill it to 300 bar. You can probably get 25.39s up to about 900 fps at 2000 regulator setting. 1800 might even be a better idea. If you place the shots well you won't have a problem with a 25 caliber pellet going over 800 fps.

I like the possibilities of the avenge-x. I’m gonna get the .25 tactical for posting If the reviews are pos. I like the reduced weight of synthetic, and I need a shorter LOP.
