And closer to the spine on a side profile. There is a lot of breast muscle on a bird.It depends on shot placement. With the right shot placement a sub 12 fpe .177 @26 yards can drop them zero movement. Whereas a .25 with 50 FPE hitting at the wrong location seemingly a center of mass can have them fly away. I noticed that most birds have their heart and lungs higher up in the body than mammals.
Ended up in a tricky spot, crow infestation with need for immediate results,
no fly-offs to die elsewhere. Crows gone, neighbors credit bird flu epidemic, just nod my head knowing much more..... View attachment 315005
I blow crows up pretty good with 22 cal FX Hybrids out of my M3 Compact.i know both will get the job done, buts whats everyones favorite?
The crows around here are very wary. They have apparently been shot at before as I can't seem to close range on them more than sixty yards or more. I currently have a .177 Diana 48..177 10.34 grain Air Arms always gets the job done for me. Anything bigger for crows is a waste of money imo.
Can you set up a blind, or decoy? That’s how I hunt them. The crows around here are very wary. They have apparently been shot at before as I can't seem to close range on them more than sixty yards or more. I currently have a .177 Diana 48.
I could but they are too inconsistent about where they land, so I'd have a hard time figuring out where to put it.Can you set up a blind, or decoy? That’s how I hunt them.
Decoys and a dead carcass of some pest works great for me. Just gotta be patient and sit for along time sometimes. I also use a crow call as well.I could but they are too inconsistent about where they land, so I'd have a hard time figuring out where to put it.
Plus they are very inconsistent about when they show up.
@ WM- what’s the tune on that 30 WC? Just curious on your velocity. I love that platform for suresstanton,
Ended up in a tricky spot, crow infestation with need for immediate results, no fly-offs to die elsewhere. Tried three calibers, only .30 stopped fly-offs. Crows gone, neighbors credit bird flu epidemic, just nod my head knowing much more JSB, than RSV. WMView attachment 315005
