.22 or .25 for hogs?

Like many have said shot placement is a MUST!!! Shot placement is critical, the space between the eye & ear. Between eye & ear is my choice, the skull has a flat spot there & it’s a little thinner than the rest of the skull. My opinion on ear holes is there is some cartilage that may deflect the shot, unless your using heavy slugs & high fpe. Make sure your equipment is tuned & is accurate. I’ve shot some pigs at longer ranges but I was absolutely comfortable in my shot & had 100% trust in my equipment. My first long range pig was a 63yrd shot with my Sam Yang .25 with a 49gr flat nose slug. This rifle shoots those slugs hole in hole at 75yrds making 77fpe. The rifle was on a field pod, so the rifle was absolutely still. The second pig was 74yrds with my custom built Condor & a 37gr Rat Sniper HP. I highly don’t recommend the things I’ve described in this post for someone just starting out or wondering what caliber to shoot pigs with. You absolutely need a ton of trigger time & a lot of knowledge on the animal your hunting.
But yes a .22 or .25 will kill. I’d use the .22 with a hard pellet over the .25 for penetration purposes.
