Taipan . 22 Taipan mutant standard

After owned a few forward cocking airguns I really never think that I would have another rear cocking airgun , but even since I sold a pair of taipan longs , I had the want to try a standard size taipan, so few weeks ago a .22 standard mutant in perfect condition for the age was in the classified, at a perfect price I buy it, and send it to Motorhead tuning service, for a complete orings change and a reg rebuild since it was already in his shop so I could have a trouble free gun.. hit set it up for 18gr at 900fps and - WHAT A GUN it is , just fill point n shoot , no poi no harmonics bulls%&<$#$=×@... just pure enjoy of the money spend.... i have to had one in .25 so i just got the .25 standard with the tactical stock before they are gone for ever .. because talon tunes have the last ones in .25 .. no 22 in any configuration aviable.. of these old models .. only Air Gun Heaven still have one or two.. for the new members looking to have a accurate trouble free gun . Get some before the only choice you have is to wait until some one want to sell his .. i sold mine ones i will not do the same mistake again.

They are fantastic shooting rifles in every caliber

For some maybe. "Fantastic" is a pretty strong word for them.
I'd say, "fine" or "ok". I have others that I like shooting much more than my Taipan.

Mike
I was solely referring to the way they shoot. They're extremely accurate, have amazing triggers, quiet enough to NOT need a moderator, and can be set up for high shot count given the amount of air and power they can put out for the amount of cc they have.

Other than all that, I dislike the rear cocking and shooting off-hand is a bit odd.

I aquired a standard Mutant from member Shambozzy about the same time you got yours. He was the original owner and a known trustworthy guy to deal with, and I'm sure glad I got it! I've been "camped out" with this gun shooting little else, bonding with and getting to know this platform...very similar to newer Veterans but slightly lighter. Just so happens, late yesterday, I shot my personal best group, (for the range) at 33 measured yards non benched from my easy chair using my knee as a rest. 5 shot group with JSB 18s at 890 fps...cronyed it yday. This group, (I've shot hundreds if not thousands similar to it with my Vets) is a testimony to a fantastic (I will use that word) trigger...and decaids of practice...and I don't care at all not even a little bit, the cocking lever is in the rear...the way these Taipan'a shoot...AND the build quility...That's why I've got three of 'em and hav

e my eye on a .177, an older model with the smooth anodizing I prefere, A compact. 22 would be nice too....BTW Mr. Milo is my shootin' buddy!

Mr. Milo is not amused. 😀

I really like my Taipan Vet .25. Perfect for a left hand shooter. My go to critter killer. The rifle is bulletproof.
He actually wanted to go to bed...He sleep's at my feet, This is a temporary bed while our house is being built...Wife sleep's on the sofa. This single wide we are giving to the framing crew who framed our new place. A new shooting range is on my to do list!
