22 vs 25 caliber

I can not comment on how a FX Wildcat will do it. But I have shot a lot of .22 and .25 air rifles. I've found for the 35 to 60 yard range both can be just as accurate and it's really going to depend on the rifle which one will do better. On calm days it really can be a tie in that range with maybe a little bit of an edge at 60 yards for the .25, but I've found on windy days the .25 always seem to do better. Past 60 yards it seems like the .25's that I have owned have done better then the .22's.

That is a question that can surely be argued and argued about! It reminds me of 9mm vs. 45cal in the PB world.
It really is a toss up. You'll feel the wind more with the .22. But, at <60 yards it would be hard to tell the difference in accuracy between the two. If you plan on hunting or pest control, then I'd lean towards the .22 for the extra knockdown power. If you're only punching paper then I'd lean towards the .22 for less expensive pellets, more choices of pellets, and generally more shots per fill.

I have a 22 shooting 33 fpe and a 25 shooting 60 fpe. They very close when it comes to accuracy. Here is my thoughts on recommending a caliber shooting out to 60 yds.

1- If most of your shooting is in the open in windy conditions a 25 will buck the wind better.
2- After 60 yards my 25 will shoot more accurate.
3- 25 pellets are a little easier to load and handle.
4 - 25 pellets are more expensive by around 40%(it adds up if your doing a lot of shooting).
5- Air consumption. A 25 will use around 30 - 40 percent more air. If your fill shop is a far its something to think about.
6- Residential neighborhood the 22 is the way to go.
7- 22 will be quieter.
8- At 60 yards with wind protection like trees or a fence both my 22 and 25 will shoot sub 1/2 inch groups in 10 - 12 mph predictable winds. Easier and more consistent with the 25.

EDIT: My 22 is a Cricket rifle - the 25 is a Cricket bullpup.
