I heard the 2 stage upgrade off the 1701p is the best way to go. Crosman is out of stock. Anyone know another place to get the parts ? Or is crosman the best bet ? Also does anyone know exactly what parts I need off the 1701p?

Crosmans 1701P trigger is good, much better than the 2240 but you can do as well or better with an adjustable SuperSear if you have a 2240 style grip frame.

I would consider the 1701 a higher quality piece but installed on the stock 2240 or 2300 the Supersear can be adjusted to have lighter pull weight.
Set up is not difficult.

That Supersear shown is an earlier model, no longer available, with two adjustment screws, I think for a first and second stage, The new one from AOA has one screw,, an aluminum body and a couple of hardened roll pins where the sear contacts the hammer and the pivot post. The plain one available on ebay works just as good in my opinion, just polish the mill marks off where it contacts the trigger and hammer and use a Crosman adjustable sear spring assembly. That is going to cost close to $60 for the two parts. When in stock I bought a complete trigger group, for a 1701p, including the proper hammer, and the trigger group housing for a little over $70, which does give a better trigger, although marginal improvement over the super sear with new spring, plus adjustments for two stage set up.

Thanks for that old eyes did not catch the difference right away. Just the sear is only $30 though. Going to have to buy one just to see if it is as good as it used to be.

I actually have one of the Supersears without the adjustment screw, I polished the trigger engagement surface and that that engages the hammer and installed a roller trigger, Ok over the cost of a 1701p trigger assembly and hammer, but it is better than a couple of the 1701p triggers. Probably the luck of the draw on that one. My feeling is that you cannot go wrong either way.
This is the adjustable sear spring assembly I use, which allows you to adjust the pull weight easily.

I have a couple of SuperSears from the eBay vendor. I think they the next best thing to the 1701P trigger and much better than the OEM trigger from Crosman. If you got a pistol from Crosman custom shop that already came with the adjustable trigger spring you can get the Supersear but if you going to buy both the SuperSear and adjustable trigger spring you might as well just get the 1701 trigger. The trigger shoes also help improve the feel of the trigger IMO. Baker sold the trigger shoes for $9.95 and that was the least expensive place i found outside of getting them from Crosman custom shop.

No argument from me. That is why after doing a couple with the supersear and then finally locating a source on the 1701p assembly, I went the 1701 route. They are both quite good, and I have trouble telling the difference.
