.25 barracuda 30.86 and fx stx superior liners?

i have never tried the barracudas in my m3,
h&n slugs do pretty well though.

but i gotta say,
i looooove the thump that the 33.95 jsb king heavies @ 900fps makes

plus they will drift less in the wind than both the 25.39gn jsb,and the 30.86gn barracudas.
Have you shot the fx 33.95 pellets ? Do they shoot very similar to the jsb ?

After shooting Barracudas 21 grains out of my Maverick 22cal compact a few squirrel seasons ago, I bought some .25cal Barracudas for my Maverick .25cal Sniper and they also shot well. I didn't perform as extensive testing as I did with the 22 versions, but I will say in the FX superior standard liner they seemed to be speed sensitive around 850-900fps. They are worth trying.

Looking for a pellet with more thump than 25.39. 31 gr cudas seem a slightly cheaper alternative. Gun is an m3 with 600mm barrel. Can anyone attest to how these performed in a similar setup? Also how they perform compared to 33.95 heavies? Thank you.

My RTI Prophet Performance V1 shoots the 31g “Cudas” very well using the RTI/LW 1:32 twist Long Range .25 barrel…

… here is 12 shots at 100 yards.

Pretty much but it doesn’t always work that they shoot identical.
Different dies. I've found that some minor tweaks to the tune can level things out. Heck all of a sudden my slug tune on my Mav. .22 Compact with the HSA down to 3 all of a sudden I can shoot Hades like they are lasers.

I found some 'cudas I forgot I had, maybe a couple tins. They're yours if you want to try them, just pay shipping. PM me if interested.

My P35-177 and P35-22 shoot best with H&N Baracuda Match pellets. They shoot well with H&N Baracuda but I get a little better 30 yard challenge scores with the Match. The weight variation seems about the same but the Match have less head size variation at least in the 177 (the only caliber I currently have a pelletgage in). Wish they made Match for the 25s. They cost about a buck a tin more but I can live with that.

My P35-25 is using H&N FTTs. It is significantly less accurate than the other two and seems to like them best. I detuned it because the FTTs are only 20 grains and they were going over 900 fps which I think is too fast for this pellet. I have a new barrel on order and I am hoping to change the tune and switch it to Baracudas or JSB 33.95 grain - whichever is more accurate. I don't really need to shoot a heavier 25 pellet to drop squirrels in their tracks but it seems appropriate to have one of my P35s at higher than 32 fpe. Actually my first choice would be for the new barrel to like my 26 grain cast pellets but it will like what it likes. I am not stuck on a particular power level, I'd just like it to shoot a heavier 25 caliber pellet 800-875 fps. The weight of the pellet it likes will determine the fpe. It will be harder to get the 33.95s going that fast from it's 450mm barrel so I hope it shoots the Baracudas or another little lighter pellet well. I still have several tins of the FTTs so I will probably shoot them up first.

Just to update the 30.86 H&N pellets shot very well from my M3. They shot just as well as the fx 33.95 and the jsb mk1 33.95. I didn’t think to get any pics but they were solid performers at 47-48 yards. It was only a little bit of testing off a not terribly stable platform (bi pod off my car trunk with no rear bag or support ) but initially it seems the fx pellets were a little better than the jsb. Nice that the cheapest pellets shot awesome. I have to play around with everything a little more. I tuned my gun up for heavies before they came in using hades pellets guessing at the speed I would need out of those for the heavier projectiles. Wasn’t perfect as the tune is pushing the heavies 870. Will probably push a little more out of them but they did well at that speed. When I shot the 30.86 I dialed the gun back a bit to sling those in the mid 880-900. Seems a good spot for them. I was happy to see them shoot well at 6.3 cents a piece. Can’t beat that.
