.25 FX Dreamline Tactical, My thoughts and experience so far

Hi all, I thought I’d share my first experience of my first FX airgun so far. This is a somewhat long read, so scroll the the last paragraph for a basic summary. (I’ll post gun pics up here if you guys would like to see it.)

Overall: I have had it for 3 days now, and every one of them has been AWESOME! there’s so many things FX has nailed on the dreamline guns, like the buttery smooth cocking lever, the look, the accuracy, the trigger, the vast amount of modifications, the tunabilty/adjustability, how you can switch it from a classic air rifle, to a bullpup, and I could go on for days about this amazing airgun.

Accuracy/Tunability & My settings: So far, the accuracy has been astounding with the 16rnd magazine. I’ve shot nearly 1 hole groups at 50yds. (I’ll post a pic of groups up here later today) right now, my gun is pushing something like 48 ft/lbs with the gun shooting the JSB 25.39gr pellets at about 910 FPS. I have the reg set at about 115 bar, and the hammer spring turned up about 6-7/8ths of the way up with a single power plenum installed. Out of the box I was getting about a 45fps increase with the plenum compared to the gun straight out of the box, or I mean the FX long hard case that came with my gun for $50 from Utah Airguns 😁. I also tested the max FPS I got with max HS and reg set to 150 bar from the factory with the plenum, I got about 960-970fps. I’m sure you could get a little more for slugs.

Trigger: I haven’t tested the trigger yet, but it feels like it’s under a pound. Maybe 14 oz? Super light, no creep, and a solid stop at the 2nd stage.

Weight: Mine is .25, so it came with a 600mm barrel, and I added the 500cc aluminum bottle, and the tactical entry stock, which added a decent amount of weight to the gun, I’d guess about 2lbs, but still, even with a heavy bottle and a scope + rings, it was still super light for me. I’d guess about 8lbs scoped. The balance was still good offhand. The center of mass with the bottle was right in front of the trigger.

Ergonomics: The entry stock felt solid, had a decent cheek weld for me atleast, the cocking lever, OH MY GOSH! It’s amazing! Literally the lightest cocking lever ever. No one can change my mind. Holding it offhand, ehh... not so great, especially with a chinese atlas bipod with lots of sharp ends all over it. It has a feel kind of like an AR-15, this was the only real thing that bothered me. I couldn’t get a comfortable grip on it because there was so much hard, sharp metal. So, if you’re looking for an offhand shooter, steer clear from the tactical version of the dreamline, or buy a chassis for it.

Cleaning/Maintence: For me, it was pretty simple when I got it. I pulled the shroud off, got a firm grip on the barrel, and gently pulled it out. You’ll notice it has o-rings on the liner, which I took off, and I haven’t noticed a real difference with and without them. I easily cleaned the liner because I had pulled it out, and took a decent amount of patches and cleaner to remove the gunk FX uses to protect the barrel from rust or whatever it is. Make sure to also wipe the grease off the liner when you pull it out.

Shot count: with my current tune of the reg set to 120 bar and the HS set to 3/4 of the way up, I’ve gotten about 60-65 shots with the JSB 25.39s going about 910fps.

Quietness: it’s not dead quiet in .25 cal, but it’s certainly much quieter than a .22lr even without a suppressor.

Summary: Long story short, in my opinion, this is a great gun, with its long range accuracy, tunability, power, the 14oz trigger, butter smooth cocking lever, large capacity magazine, the shot count, the price tag, I paid $1350 for the stock, aluminum bottle, the tactical package, and the hard case with 2 tins of JSB .25 pellets, and the only real thing I didn’t like was how I couldn’t get a real comfortable grip on the gun shooting offhand. Overall, FX nailed this gun in general and a big + with it having most features the FX impact does.

If you do spot any mistakes, please point them out and I’ll fix them. Hope you guys enjoyed my 2 cents on this gun.
