25 or 30 Cal

I have both calibers for my Impact. I have the .25 in 600mm for nice strolls through the woods tuned at 70 FPE. The .30 in 700mm for increased power at 100 FPE for bigger game. For what you want to shoot, the .25 in 600mm or 700mm shooting slugs will be a breeze setup correctly, especially since the Impact is a fancy laser pointer with a big bite to it. It can also be powered down with a simple turn of the power wheel.

To add more, I recently popped a coon with the .25 cal. You'd of thought I hit him with the .30 cal it was so devastating to the critter.

What slugs are you shooting with you impact. If I tune for 36 nsa. And install the slug pin probe. Can I let’s say shoot 33 jsb with out having to readjust the pin probe.

I recommend the .30 cal. Impact hands down over the .25 cal...that said, I recommend you replace the pellet liner with a slug liner which will allow you to shoot your pellets accurately at much higher velocity than the pellet liner will and also slugs of course. The 44.75 grain pellets should give you better accuracy than the 50 grainers. As for slugs I have found two that are extremely accurate out of my slug liner...the NSA 49.5 grain and also the NSA 61.5 grain hollow points. (Both will work in your High Capacity Magazine).

I get best accuracy with the 49.5's at 1010 ft./s, and at 960 ft./s with the 61.5 grainers. I shoot the 44.75 pellets at 1040 ft./s for best accuracy. Shooting these projectiles at those velocities will give you 3/8" to 1/2" groups out to 50-60 yards...and should provide all the accuracy and power you need for small game hunting. And your .30 cal. Impact will do this with out even breathing hard...it is a power house!

Best regards, Chuck

Chuck how many shots you get on tune like that. And what’s the reg set at. Your shooting the superior heavy or slug a

Original slug a liner from a year ago. Regulator set at 150 bar. If I remember correctly I think I'm getting about 42 shots on a 250 bar fill. Plenty of shots for just about any small game hunting I can think of.

That’s not bad. You still have the 480cc bottle. Or did you switch to the 580cc? Are you running a dual TP and pin probe or the modified style from huma with the larger opening?

I would be more comfortable shooting a 30 caliber FX Impact straight out of the box/case with 44gr JSBs for racoons.

I agree with this. Raccoons are tough. You can kill them (obviously) with a.25, and even a .22, but virtually perfect shot placement is absolutely essential. The 44gr JSBs from a .30 Impact just carries a lot more energy!
