Yeah that’s a strange one.
I have never had air leaking out of both regulators on a fill. I have before had air leaking on the HP reg because I believe an O ring lets some air slip out before it can balance its self.
I replaced the o ring on this part of my HP regulator with an 90 hardness and I haven’t had a problem since.

Thanks MSR Workshop & manabeknives for your reply

I have a sub 12 one with the HP set at 1500 and the LP set to 150 ...when it was working..
I had no issues in the past filling from a compressor or a bottle.
This crazy issue came of nowhere .
I stripped and cleaned and re lubricated both regs many time...without luck.
I have another HP reg, so decided to swap the reg completely....guess what...exactly the same issue. still the HP leaks as soon compressor reach 125 BAR and the LP races up to 200 Psi and HP gauge at 1750 Psi. I'm sure if I can put more air in, the LP and HP will continue to rise....
Let's say if the LP is not regulating....would it make the HP leak and not regulate as it should?....not sure how the relationship works.
Still scratching my head...so any help will be appreciated

So, you are filling the air, it gets to a certain point and starts leaking air out the regulators ....dry fire it and continue filling
not an oring problem..it is the valve stuck open...dry firing will reset the valve

Do you mean the spool valve?
I did dry fire few time...I will do some more ....

OK- I,ve just done 30-40 dry fires...nothing ...no luck!

i really don't know ..usually when i have a problem like this, it is solved by dry-firing to equalize the pressure on the valve.
and it did it with a new reg??
weird...have not heard of this one before
I hope the boys at Skout can help you ..they'll be open in 2 1/2 hours
Please post any solutions you find for this
Hope it does get solved

I added more shims to the HP is order to see if I get more pressure. before venting....
This is even more strange
I get to about 150 Bar then the HP blows out a loud puff of air and continues like this ...build up to 150 and bang, less than a second later another bang and so on....(using a bottle filler) ...tried firing in between bangs....still no joy
No sure Skout give a hoot . I don't know if any of them read this forum.

They actually come on this forum quite often and read stuff.
I would try backing the high-pressure regulator so it’s completely off and then try your fill. Once it’s filled then start turning your high-pressure regular back on slowing and see what that does.

I have just done another experiment.
I removed the tiny cylindrical seal in the LP - basically to stop being a regulator/ zero air in it.
I turned the bottle on....yes, no air showing on the LP gauge.
I started filling the gun...and no leaks all the way to 200 bar....There is something I am not understanding here!

Keep in mind that I have two HP regs and both are exhibiting the same behaviour

OK, I think I got it licked
The problem is the choice of material and diameter of the VRG 106 (L.P) . This seal deforms over time, and certainly the condition in may case.
Although the mating faces did look clean and undamaged, the side view will show a bulging of the material at either end.
Had you made it a tight fit and made from 90 Shore, that would have stopped the issue.

In the mean time, I added a washer behind this seal as I do not have a replacement in my spares box.
This item did not seal well, so the LP crept up, and when this LP is high, the HP starts to vent . So it wasn't the HP venting when certain fill pressure is reached, it was the continuous creep of the LP as the fill pressure went up, leading to the HP venting.

Damn it...I spoke too soon.
No the problem returned after turning the bottle on after it was turned off.
Even with replacing the VRG 106 (L.P) that I got today, along with the the associated assembly...still no luck, exactly the same issue...:eek::eek::eek:
Try replacing the Oring that I mentioned above.
you can order them on Amazon.

here’s the link https://a.co/d/f2JWcQl
I still think it’s a deforming issue because the O-ring that was used was a softer one and I think it’s because one , air is slipping around this O-ring and 2, because it’s softer it also deforms after a while, making the problem sometimes worse.
