Vortex Razor HD Gen3? Now your gun is REALLY heavy!I broke down and put my RMAC raffle scope on mine. A bit overkill perhaps, but what the hey…View attachment 406592
It sure IS heavy …my wife helps me get it out to the garage every morning!Vortex Razor HD Gen3? Now your gun is REALLY heavy!
Thats what SHE said...!It sure IS heavy …my wife helps me get it out to the garage every morning!
I would have done the same if I hadn’t just sold it a couple weeks ago. I wanted to pick up a Zeiss 6-36, but I am gun poor right now. I am going to have to borrow a Falcon from another rifle to help for now.I broke down and put my RMAC raffle scope on mine. A bit overkill perhaps, but what the hey…View attachment 406592
SMOKEY3Y- did that new Skout come with a DFL adapter? Or did you order that separately? In the spirit of continuing our Skout megathread, I thought I would chip in with a small update and thoughts after unboxing my new Skout 25.
I looked through the included manual, but I look through the online version as well. Very detailed with real pictures.
- This thing is a beast! I didn’t weigh it, but it is easily the heaviest rifle I have owned without a scope. That is a good thing to me, because I always add weight anyway. I still might add some weight (why not) to the MLOK rails, and of course a 3+lb scope.
- I went with .25, because I wanted something different and have only briefly owned a 25. I also have the 25” barrel. It came with all 3 of the original liner inserts from before they changed. Says it was tuned for 920 with 25gr pellets, so I already see I will need to do some tuning later for 34gr.
- I do have the extended bipod rail. I wish all the manufacturers would include these, but all the major ones don’t.
- I was surprised with a DonnyFL adapter that I wasn’t expecting. It does screw all the way in, so score!
- It didn’t include the new barrel lock, as the dealer forgot to include it with the older stock rifle, but Skout responded to my query for a free one really quickly and is sending me one.
- This case is heavy duty. I never use the cases, so we will see if this is a good thing or something they could have saved on. The tool case appears to be made by the same company that makes them for Eagle Vision. I like these and use my Eagle Vision ones for other things. I also like the nice set of Allen keys.
- I do have a new enough version that includes the on/off switch on the bottle, so that is good. So many dials everywhere!
Biggest problem I have is no spare scope! Looks like I’ll be taking my Falcon off my FT rig until I can pick one up. Also picked up a Ghost off a friend, so I have some work cut out for me trying 2 completely new platforms to me.

Time to break out the red Sharpie!Went back a couple of pages and looked over the two color tone guns, and you know what would’ve given them more bling blang eye candy, is to have had the reg adjustment knobs under the front of the gun anodized the same colors!!
Hmmm…..
I picked it up used from Utah Air. Checked in to see what they had and this was mentioned as well. So I looked around another week or two and decided to go with this one at a discount with extra barrels and the rail. (I meant to put all that in the original post, but it got so long I forgot all I wanted to say!)SMOKEY3Y- did that new Skout come with a DFL adapter? Or did you order that separately?

Thank you for the info!3.63 x 2.62 mm. Although that will work on the Skout gauge ports with BSP threaded gauges, the factory is 1/8 NPT that does not use an oring. Those seal on the threads with Teflon tape, no oring. In my post above with the digital gauges those are 1/8 NPT.
Great shooting! Looks like you’ve really gotI took the Scout to 100Y BR at Rio Salado this morning. Wanted to decide once and for all which pellets it likes best under competition conditions.
My .25 Skout on left and Scott’s @Scotchmo .30 Skout on right.

I decided to shoot the five 5 shot targets on the left column with JTS 33.8, and the five 5 shot targets on the right column with 33.95 RangeMaster (like JSB MK2 Heavy). The middle three targets are for sighters. The Gold Skout shot REALLY well, the average of those 5 groups in the right column is less than MOA.
My left score was 225, my right score was 241. These are straight scores, no plugging. It’s pretty obvious which ones performed best., -9 to -25. Anyone want to buy some JTS 33.8 grain pellets?
Both were shooting about 950 fps. Both have a BC of 0.055. Wind conditions were actually slightly worse when I shot the right column.

These targets are slightly larger than the EBR targets (about 9%), but they are not plugged to .35 caliber…
