.25 Slugs & Maverick Compact

I don't know why it wouldn't work. You can get over 60 foot pounds out of a 500mm barrel on the Maverick compact, which is more than most airguns can do, especially with light slugs. I have the Sniper version in .25cal, but I do have a Crown MKII with a 500mm barrel in .25cal that does well with the NSA 26.8's and the FX Hybrid Slugs and that is shooting them at 53 foot pounds. I originally had a Maverick compact 22cal that would shoot 54 foot pounds before I converted it to a Sniper version. Personally I have thought about being a 500mm 25cal barrel for squirrel hunting this fall for mine and putting my extra 300cc tank back on it.

what velocity are you shooting the slugs out of the Crown?

I definitely see why you couldn't.. I don't have a maverick .. but I do have a dreamline compact with a 380mm barrel that shoots 17.5gr NSA slugs great. At 855fps.. so give them a try... I've had this tune for awhile now so it isnt a fluke..or a tune I had one day, gone the next...it shoots great everyday I pick it up...Had it out today whacking the crap out of starlings on the farm.

G’day mate, I’m new to my .25 maverick sniper and still looking for a sweet spot. If you don’t mind, what’s your best fx hybrid tune for the maverick.25?

I have tried slugs out of my .25 crown mk2 with the 380mm, 600mm and 700mm. I couldnt get any of them to shoot consistent. I pushed them all the way over 1,000 fps and down to 850 fps. I ran the bullets thru a stability calculator and with the superior light liners 1:24 twist the calculator said they were not stabilized. It called for a 1:13 but showed a stability factor well over 2.5 with the 18 twist the heavy liner has. So in my experience the twist rate is marginal with the light slug barrel. I know people do get them to work in the light liner so my guess is theres just enough variation in shooting location and barrels that some will have succes and others wont. Best bet is probably using the heavy liner with the faster twist.

I've shot FX Hybrids .25's before and, if I remember correctly, they were shooting well at around 980. Mine is set at 125/155 because it's sighted in right now with JSB KO's at 980 on PW7. I think Hybrids were on PW3. Don't remember IHS setting.
Thanks, that's handy because I've just bought a bunch of jsb ko's. How's the accuracy past 50m?
