N/A .25 vs .30 bullpup

So getting back into airguns for the year, I decided I have too much over lap with what I have and am wanting to get something different. I haven't owned something larger than .22 in 4-5 years at least and I would like one. I don't have alot of experience with .25 to be honest. I think one would probably be better than a .30 for me but when I've owned a .30 in the past I really enjoyed them. If I go .25 I want one shooting a 34gr at 880fps ideally or a .30 would be 44gr at 880fps. I'd like some recommendations on some bullpups that aren't 4ft long lol.

Look what Uragan 2 (700mm) did with five JSB 44.75s yesterday @ 50 yards, 984 fps. WM

A .30 uses a ton of air. That’s why I switched my P2 back to .25 and bought a 700mm Uragan in .30. I have wide berth tuning parameters and a good shot count. Unfortunately I could unscrew its bottle and go scuba diving with it. A .25 is a good middleman but when you jump to the 33.95, it gets thirsty too. So take all that into account.

Uragan 2 600 or 700mm I have one in .22 700mm and it's currently shooting 25gr HN HP2 .218 at 1007fps and grouping like this at 63.6yrdd with 5-8mph winds gusting 10mph from right to left, and you can see where the gusts took effect in this 7 shot group . @Dairyboy

When the gun was tuned to shoot 25gr at 940avg it was getting around 120 shots per fill from 300b- 125b

Having .22, .25, and .30 I have no real need for the .25. I have one and I like the gun but..
To me the .25 in air gun land is the 40sw of pew pew land. If I want cheap plinking I’ll grab the .22 if I want to hammer something I’ll grab the .30. However if I was starting all over and sold off everything I’d just do .25. It’s versatile enough to not justify owing a .22 or .30. This assumes hunting or pesting is the goal not paper punching.

Sorry I misread the means of what you wanted there somehow. I wholeheartedly agree with @Bander124 I don't own or shoot .25 for that reason. My buddy does and if I need a rifle I'll borrow his but, I prefer not to.

That being said, .30 may be an airport, but it's not without good reason. Unless you're pesting in large open areas you're going to go through that much ammo. My Vulcan 3 .30 500mm (31" OAL no mod) gets me between 50 and 60 shots from 300b to 150b and it shoots 44.7gr pellets between 870 and 880fps.

Good points to think of. I can't say I'm worried about shot count, I have other guns for shot count this would be more for just power. At least compared to my 33fpe .22.

@JaceSpace1369 you have me thinking now on the U2 in .22. Good shot count and power.

@Bander124 also good point. I think that's why I never really got into .25. Having had .22 it did alot of what I needed but .25 isn't that much bigger compared to .30 which would just make me laugh at how big they were and the smack they would make.

Think on it! I brought my U2 to as high as 66fpe without adjusting the hammer or the balanced valve, only the reg. So shooting 34gr around 930-940 and I was still getting around 50 shots and still had plenty of reg adjustment to go up on.

And you can still achieve these numbers with the 600mm, you just won't get as many shots.

I had one, but it has a distinct sharp ping every time you shoot it. Amazingly accurate platform, also kinda heavy with sharp corners. If getting a .22 it loved .2155 NSA slugs and .216 sizes too

Did you have one in .30 cal also ? It looked pretty impressive and didn't hear much ping at the factory power level in the video. Were you shooting at increased power levels or did it ping no matter what ? I know you've tried a bunch . Have you found that one you won't get rid of ? Probably longer than Dairyboy was looking for anyway. The 30 cal was getting 45+ shots at 92.5 fpe .

If you can find one, an Edgun R5.30 Standard. Rare as hell. Mine was short with the 18” barrel. Shot 44gr pellets at 885fps and got around 30 shots per 250bar fill. I think the Huma reg it had was set to 130bar. Longest ground squirrel was 155 yards.

Current .30 is a Prophet P1 with the 600mm LW barrel and Huma reg. It does 895fps with 44gr FX Hybrids set at 147bar. 44gr pellets reach 920ish at the same reg setting. Gets 30+ shots from a 300cc bottle with a 250bar fill. Just swapping the barrel to.25 LW? leaving all else the same and it’ll push JSB KnockOut 34gr at 945fps. It’s the one on the bottom
