25 yard benchrest practice with RAW HM1000x

Since wind was nearly zero and I had a new scope to zero, I decided to zero at 25 yards so my RAW would be set for indoor matches this winter. The new scope is a Sightron Competition 45x45 with ED glass. Sure makes the bull look big at 25 yards!

Top of left-hand target is my sighters. Trying to get used to 1/8 moa clicks at 25.

Translation: 4 clicks to move the poi an 1/8 of an inch at 25 yards!
And one click at 25 is almost imperceptible!

Took me a while to be comfortable with more clicks closer, seems counterintuitive.
Yeah, that's what I assumed. 1 click at 100 yards is 1/8” so at 25 it would be 1/4 of that.

I just wanted to use this so this looks like a good spot...😉

Thing i dont get is all that gun and just 25y?
No, I also shoot longer, like 50 and 100 yards. But my main use of this particular rifle is indoor benchrest. Our club only has 25 yards, or so, indoors. I use other rifles for longer ranges. I'm getting another RAW in 25 cal for 100 yard outdoor shooting. So I was setting up my new scope to be ready for indoor shooting.

I'm not sure what kind of outdoor shooting you are doing, but your current RAW in .22 is capable of shooting 50&100 yards and will perform quite well at those distances.

That's my deal not tring to be smart but that investment it better drop a 1/2 a dime at 100. All day .

But funny in reviews of most guns its 10m or 25 yards then if a 50 is done its like a miracle shooting . Then coment on that as why so point blank and get bashed like im dumb...lol. Then find out there using a shooting vice on top of that to do it. Like for that money then support money just to get it to shoot then fancy mail-order pellets it better do better then 25y but you rarely see it. Lucky you do see guys in a 100y forum thread showing somthing ..but?

Not trying to take away from the gun/shooter here cause a good dhot is s good shot regardless..

Anyway sorry i posted all this in your post. I just scratch my head on that deal overall. Great shooting.

Enjoy

Mo-Ron, those that have never participated in a 25m BR match with good shooters have no idea of what it takes to do well….or any realistic ability of their own equipment. As a long time active BR shooter….we see lots of guys attend matches just once. Many show up thinking they are going to teach everyone a lesson and never come back after being completely destroyed. That’s the reason why the precision genre is rather unpopular. An easy way to spot someone that is completely ignorant of precision BR shooting is to listen to their descriptions. If they use the word “vise”….you can bet they know very little about the game.

You should expand your horizons and go to a 25m BR match….even an indoor one. I’m certain it would be very enlightening.

It's sort of like 10 meter pistol but more relaxing. I also forgot to mention the shooter needs to block out the rest of the line and learn body and mind control. To me it is one of the most personal and relaxing of sports. (Sometimes with "Oh, crap" thrown in).
