If you had about $2500 to spend on just an airgun would you choose an FX Impact, A Karma Red Panda or a Skout Evo or something else and why?

This is their top of the line or close correct? I haven’t really considered Daystate much. Also not sure about buying used although it looks like I can get a $4000 rifle for $2000. Would be great if it shoots accurate. I always wonder if people are selling because they have problems. Interesting though. 👍

Really can’t go wrong with A of A. Used guns are leak and function checked before they leave. Most are reasonably priced. If you call in to buy it they will generally give you a warranty if you ask. 30 day return policy as well. That gun could possibly be a used return 🤷‍♂️. A month or so ago they had another safari 22 just like that and it sold really fast. No idea if this is the same gun ?

Numerous months ago they had a delta wolf that was converted to an alpha wolf in .30 listed. It was listed as an alpha wolf however if you looked closely at the pics it was clear it was a delta that someone bought and then got the conversion kit for. That gun was returned and resold 2-3 times.

I've been fortunate to aquire a variety of airguns including a dozen PCPs from Air Arms, Daystate, Feinwerkbau, FX, Rapid Air Weapons, Walther and Weihrauch. There's lots more good ones that I'm not familiar with.

Of the premium priced airguns, I'd say that they are all good quality, well made, well designed and preform better than the typical shooter. Realistically, nothing to complain about.

We can dream about the one airgun that is perfect for every application but magic and miracles aside that's not good to happen. Each brand/model has its features, strengths and weaknesses so it's up to the buyer to find the best airgun(s) for their specific needs.

I think that people need to put brand loyalty in perspective and evaluate each candidate relative to its potential use. The most important thing to determine is does the airgun meet your (real) needs.

For example, the FX Impact MK1 pellet gun got my interest, I bought the MK2 as a pellet gun with slug capabilities, the MK3 and MK4 slug guns are very nice, but the MK2 meets my needs and I see no reason to upgrade.

After my good experience with the FX Royale 500, I bought the Impact for its versatility, got the Crown MK2 as a general plinker/pester on a trade, invested in a Panthera as a bench rifle and grabbed the light weight DRS as an ideal squirrel stalking rifle. I've been pleasantly surprised with how well each preformed their duties, no problems with any of them.

I've got quite a few FX products, I'm not a fan-boy but I might recommend someone look at a particular model if it was a good fit for their application.

As far as which brand or which model, hype and emotions aside, I'll evaluate everything that's available before making a informed decision.

Just my 2 cents.

Cheers!

The answers will differ based on what your needs are.

10 meter standing competition?
Hunting large game?
100 yard benchrest?
Field target?

All of these would be VERY different guns.

Please tell us a bit about what you are looking for and your experience level etc. I'm certain we can get you to something that will fit the bill!

You have a lot of great experience and great air rifles so let me ask you this. If you had to get rid of them all expect for 1 which would you keep?

Taipan slash. Looks to have major valving innovations for efficiency and power. I just trust the brand and have yet to be disappointed.
I'm trying to resist but the more I learn about the Slash the more I want it. That'd be crazy to get the 16 joule model and get 350 shots per fill! It'd be a gun I could have fun with in semi on steel and 350 shots is way more than I care to shoot in a session, or until I was tired of shooting.
It'd be cool to have a bunch of magazines too.

This year I was looking at buying a couple more pcp's I had in mind beforehand but I might have to pivot on one of them and get a Slash.

Let's see, what else can I sell (already sold two recently) to accommodate the purchase of all the others I want plus this one??!!

That's a cruel question! LOL!

As a plinker at heart who does a bit of paper punching, pesting and takes a couple of squirrels for the pot. Without hesitation, my .22/500mm FX Crown would be my choice.

I have others that I'm very fond of but none are as versatile or over all capable as the Crown. Accuracy, ergonomics, shot-count, power, tunability, it more than meets all my general shooting needs.

Cheers!
