Slightly OT but if you don't need or want the "higher" FPE levels of .257 or .308 a 22 cal or 250 cal using heavy slugs in fast twist barrels will reach out to ELR distances pretty good and you'll get decent shot counts as well.
Recently in heavy winds I was hitting a fox sized steel at 250Y easily and out of a dozen shots I missed once just left when the wind let off. That was with 22 cal 15.75 twist barrel, Altaros 32.3gr slugs, going 829 fps, 49 fpe, in a Skout EVO. I've done the same thing with a 25 cal Vulcan 3 using 60gr Altaros slugs .245 BC at 862 fps/99 fpe.
However I'd still like one larger caliber pcp slugger. It'll probably be 45 cal but a .338 custom is more interesting in the hopes of finding a .5-ish G1 BC cast bullet.
