3 good pcp OR 1 very good pcp

Great, buy two Avengers; one in 25 and one in 22 + a nice HPA pump with 12 volt and 110 volt power supply...when one starts to leak you still have a working gun (hopefully).

HILLARIOUS!!!

WHAT HAPPENS IF THE 12V/110V COMPRESSOR LIKELY KICKS THE BUCKET FIRST?

I agree, but that probably depends on your sense of humor! Both guns, the compressor and power supply were available from Midway (USA) when I posted the suggestion - only 177 was available when I checked today. One answer is buy two guns, two compressors and two power supplies - $1,400 and change including shipping. I don't own the Avenger, but then again I didn't own any of my PCP's before I bought them; though, I do know that when I purchased my first rifle I knew that I was buying 1/2 of a system. Knowledge helped me make an informed decision the first time, but understanding what I was doing made better choices for 2,3,4,5th guns. These threads usually start the same way - they're fun, then the suggestions flow - the one thing that changes is the available technology - seriously doubt I'll see the same recommendations 10 years from now...thanks for not hitting me on the "pump"; sleeping during intermission on the bovine thread probably 🐄...😀

For back up in case something goes wrong with one , or if there’s more then one shooters, or because instead of blowing all the money on one pcp, I could have 3 , different caliber for different (size live targets) .
yep if I was just thinking this is JUST for me then the one expensive pcp would be just fine .

Correct, but I knew that from the beginning; anyone who has the desire for or the ability purchase a high quality gun for a specific purpose would make that choice and wouldn't seriously consider three "good guns" - that's just the "bait"; since it's just for one person.

As long as the guy doesn't buy a FX Impact or doesn't thinker with it... his need for a backup gun will greatly decrease...

[/Humour OFF]

In case there's another shooter?

- Are we talking wife or kid? If so, sharing one rifle is just fine... and if they like it, save some $$ to buy them their very own "nice" gun.

- From personal experience, spending $ to make sure the wife is using the best equipment as always paid off. (How does it go? A happy wife, a happy life)

I would make three small changes:

Yep, I’m not into the tinkering , and yea my little helpers are still small at the moment 11 and 9 years at the moment , but some day “if” they can prove to me that the can follow directions and are responsible, then I can let them have one .

Back in the days before we had kids my wife use to go hunting with me , now .. she’s so so , meaning she’s more concerned about safety when around these type of things and little kids .

(probably like riding a bike , she’ll love it again if given the chance ) .

funny part is , I JUST look at my gun safe and notice it’s a bit smaller now (less room) will be hard to fit 1 more let alone 3 more 😂, just need to add another safe or locker 😇

Good inexpensive guns have a lot to offer, but they'll never equal one vastly superior gun.

Triggers can be a sore spot on cheaper guns. The manufacturers just can't put the time into refining the mechanism. Accuracy is what you define it. If a 2 or 3 MOA group is great at 50 yards, a less expensive gun will do nicely. If you want a hole on hole, under 1 MOA group at 50 or 100 yards, a cheap gun won't do it.

At the time I got into Airguns, the Marauder was the only viable low end PCP. I still have it. The trigger is reasonable, the quality is good, and it's accurate to 50 or 75 yards. Don't think about going to 100, in my case, 75 is about the max. My other two PCP's are Impacts. Trigger is crisp and I really like the triggers. it's accurate to 100 yards plus. Power is there to shoot whatever I want, External adjustments allow for tuning on the fly if I need to.

Do you need the extra stuff? Only you can tell. I still shoot the Marauder and I really enjoy it. I've added a regulator, hammer, springs and a couple after market parts to make it more efficient, but it'll never compete capability wise with the Impact. Whole different leagues.

You just need to determine what you want to do and if the less expensive gun will do the job! If so, less expensive is GREAT!
