3 YEAR, 30,000 shot review of the Daystate Red Wolf!

Thank you for your continued sharing of your hard earned knowledge. I would love to hear your thoughts on differences you have experienced between the Marauder and the Redwolf. Complete opposite ends of the spectrum in every way, yet you were able to drive each platform to great success. Not looking for differences in the guns themselves, more interested in how your experience has changed.

Great review of a fantastic rifle. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I’ve had my RedWolf for about 6 months or so, it’s also a .177 and I don’t even shoot my other rifles much anymore lol.
You are one of the guys that convinced me to get one, Soren is the other guy who helped me decide to go broke lol!

Sure! Funny you mention that because I have given it some thought...
While my RW was away being upgraded I pulled out the old Marauder and practiced with it. Like an old friend, it didn't take long to get right back to where we left off last we met. Still a very accurate rifle and I would take it to a match tomorrow. This particular Marauder had work done to it before I bought it. It has a great trigger that is light, and a great barrel. Although not regulated, it has an tube extension installed for more shots per fill. Going from the RW to the Marauder there are several things I would change if it was my primary rifle for Field Target...

First I would put a regulator in it.
I always considered doing that but at the time it was shooting so well I was hesitant to change a good thing. I knew the sweet spot where it liked to be filled and how many shots I could get in that sweet spot (around 30). But now I would probably go ahead and regulate it.

Second I would consider removing the expansion tube for better weight balance.
If installing a regulator works as I would hope, I may no longer need the expansion air tube to make it half way through a FT match for a fill.

Third I would install a better butt plate.
I like the adjustability and shape of the RW butt plate and could use something similar on the Marauder.

Lastly, I would search for a good quality single shot loader for the breach. It's so much easier to load with a single shot type loader that flips out.

The Athlon Helos BTR 4-20x50 scope would work great on the Marauder as well. I really like the reticle, clear glass and repeatable parallax it offers.

Hope that helps!
Thanks

Yea, they are very nice indeed. I don't think I've ever met a owner who regretted it, but it is an investment for sure!

Thought I’d revive this ol thread.
The RW is one of those rifles I’ve bought twice.
I converted the bottle to the smaller 300 cc and I still get over 100 plus shots with 13.4@815 FPS.
I was wondering if you ever experienced a point of impact shift as your battery charge / voltage drops?
Yesterday my 40 yard to 55 yard shots started dropping so much I thought I’d lost my zero. After some frustration I remembered what I learned from the first wolf…. A charged battery makes for a happy wolf but a weak battery causes erratic behavior.

Thanks!
I bought a cheap battery tester on the zon to help me understand how much charge was left on my battery. Once I forgot to charge for a few months and started getting some crazy fliers. So bad the pellets were clipping the end of the shroud cap! I checked the battery and it was down to 7%. Charged it up and everything was good again.
Now I charge when it gets under 50%.

Thanks for your input!
