.30 cal Fx hybrids going crazy…..

I just got my impact m4 in .30 cal….
Picked up an assortment of pellets to try out,

1 tin of Rifle titans 50.61
1 tin of jsb hades 45
1 box of Zan br100 56
And 3 boxes of Fx hybrids at 45

The hades shot okay, we’re hanging up in the mag a bit 860 fps or so
Titans also okay, no hang ups, a bit slower on the same tune 840ish
Cranked it up to shoot the Zans at 860 - wow - VERY accurate. The only trouble is any more than 8 in the mag and it’s hanging up.

Popped in some hybrids same tune - they went crazy - 4 foot spiral - literally all over the place, 940fps.
Dialed the way down to 780”s, same story.

Very surprised at how poorly they did - completely unusable. I thought the whole point was you didn’t need a slug liner for them…..guess not

You're gonna have to pull your liner and check it out. It sounds like you gun doesn't like to shoot anything. What's your tune looking like?

Hybrids are a bandaid slug, they have never been top 3 in any of my guns but they're always on the top 5. It sounds like the choke is messing with them, or you need to send them in the low 900s if you can. My Mrod 25 did exactly what your are having issue with. Mines too slow and too much choke. The short barrel dreamline can send them faster and I have a little better results there but decided to stick to the pellet choices. Heavy pellets can act like low bc slugs with today's designs. Imho.

Hybrids in my AAA Paradigm shoot hole in hole at 53y, for 30 shots, then I have to pull a patch. So every fill, I pull a patch and they are lights out accurate. Yes, this is kind of a pain, but it's consitent. So much so, that it is worth doing, nothing shoots better.

Clean your barrel well. If they can't shoot a good group on a clean bore, pitch'em and don't look back. If they shoot well, figure out how many shots you can take between cleaning. This is true for all other ammo too.

Sounds to me you got a bum barrel liner!
I would contact the vendor you got it from and figure out a solution. Not unheard of to get a bad liner! Mass production throws bad parts occasionally. Or could be clipping your moderator. Just a thought.

Chuck,
The zans are shooting excellent 1.5” group right out of the box, no fine tune, n tricky wind this morning. It’s just the fx’s going nuts.
Puma, I’ll clean it tomorrow and see.

Could also be that, only in the .30 cal, Fx decided on 1 in 40 twist for the pellet liner. Every other caliber is 1:24…..
My slug liner and some cf sleeves arriving tomorrow- I’ll see how they do in there.

1:40 twist is intended for pellets. Unlikely that 1:40 will work well with slugs. Maybe try a very short (43gr?) conventional slug like NSA offers. Go with the faster twist for slugs.
