Just figured I’d throw this out there in case anyone is debating getting the slug power kit.
I’ve only got to do some very simple testing so far but it’s pretty darn exciting.
I’m running a fx wildcat bt with a 700mm barrel.
Previously I was achieving around 935 fps with javelin 52 gr slugs. Nothing to sneeze at and was an absolute hammer on raccoons and the like. Not to mention very accurate.
I installed the kit and turned my power wheel down to 1 from its previous setting of 7.( I figured sense the new hammer is almost double the weight of the old it wouldn’t need as much spring tension.) right away I got 955 fps on setting 1. Not bad at all… it settled down some and ended up closer to 945.
I figured sense I had so much more hammer power I could bump the reg up just a bit so I turned it from 150 to 160. This aloud me to turn my power wheel up to 4 with out beating the valve unnecessarily.
With the reg pressure higher and hammer spring higher my velocity with the 52 gr slugs jumped to 985 fps…. I’m very happy with that. Unfortunately I ran out of day light and couldn’t do any more tuning and accuracy testing. But point being this power kit and very rushed tuning I gained 50 fps in velocity. I’m certain once I actually get everything set correctly I can achieve more without harming the gun.
That’s all I’ve got for now. Hope some of this was helpful and made sense. Grammar and writing are not my strong suit. So you’ll have to excuse the lack of punctuation!
