Airgun Technologies 30 Cal Uragan 2 or 3

Out of the box my U3 compact .22 was shooting low 900’s with 15.9’s and using a lot of air. One thing I have found out, the hammer spring screw will only allow one turn out before interfering with the stock if you need to tune down a bit. The interior of the stock needs to be recessed to prevent this. In my case, I needed two turns out on the HS screw and the stock would not go back on. The hammer spring screw interferes with the stock and it will not line up with the side holes to reinstall the stock. So I sanded about 1mm off the base of the hammer spring guide which gives the equivalent of one turn out, in addition to one physical turn out (2 total). The gun was wasting too much air. I adjusted it out just enough to see a 10fps drop and my full fill shot count nearly doubled from 36 to about 63 at 890’ish with 15.9gr pellets. I have not done anything to the reg yet but fps falls off at about 110-120bar. Accuracy is very good with AEA Center Punch 15.9 unsorted pellets. Attached is a 50yd bench rest target shot indoors.

After getting the U2 30 I was so impressed with the out of box performance that I bought a U2 25 within one week. Unfortunately 2 days before the arrival of the 25 the 30 blew its cork. Not sure what it is so it went back. Checked the valve and replaced the breech o-ring. Might be the regulator. I’m not disillusioned, things happen. In the meantime I’m happy plinking away withe the 25. I’m going to call AVS to get slug recommendations. Not spending altaros money and I might try Zam’s once I know the optimum diameter. Considering selling my fx’s and AEA’s Getting a little tired of tuning and tuning and tuning. So far the u2’s shoot almost anything from Jsb and Aea from very well to pellet on pellet @ 50 yrds. I’m also going to keep my 2 25cal Hubens.
It’s time to cull the heard as they say.

My U2 .30 600mm has been perfect, shooting 49.5gr NSA at 886 out of the box with great accuracy. 56gr ZAN BR 100’s at 875. Groundhog (woodchuck), fox and ‘yotes don’t have a prayer with the NSA’s. As far as ballistics go, muzzle energy is a bit more with the BR100’s (95fpe) but the NSA’s (86fpe) start gaining FPE on the BR100’s past 50yds due to a better BC. The early U2’s had a valve issue but they have corrected that with the later models with an updated valve. Even so, the valve is easy to get to if it needs replacing.

Spoke to Bryan @EDgun and he says that it’s the new valve. They received it yesterday so I’ll know soon enough. I’m all set with slugs for the 30 now I’m trying to figure out slugs for the 25cal.

It's likely your U2 .30 blew the o-ring that sits on the shoulder of the poppet part of the valve. It's a VERY common issue with the U2s. The latest poppets don't break any longer but the o-rings still break. You have to disassemble the rifle about 50% to get he valve out on the U2 (U3 made access to the valve with no disassembly).

I've tested about every popular weight and brand of slugs in my U2 .25 700. The best shooting slug is the AVS 44gr, dish base in .2513" diameter. Second best is AVS 44gr, dish base in .2530" diameter.

My reg. is set at 155-bar. Hammer is 3-turns OUT from flush with back of block. I have the carbon stock and the spring adjuster plug has room inside the stock for several turns of outward adjustment.

Velocity in Spring/Summer temps is about 950fps. I was getting about 935fps in Winter temps.

Slightly better than average 5-shot group at 50yds with the AVS .2513" from my U2 .25.
