That's a great report to hear! That black finish is indeed SHARP! I'm definitely excited to hear back how she shoots and see some targets.

I was initially expecting just the bare metal barrel, so I was going to put a chrome wrap on it to make it look like a polished barrel and protect it from rust and finger prints. I could also do a carbon wrap on it as. But since this came with a really nice black finish, I think I’ll just leave it alone..I'm told that the black barrels were a one-off production. I wouldn't expect those on future orders.
Very Handsome Evo! Love the colorsWell here she is kids!! Except for my Donny FL moderator that’s coming to quiet this beast today. Here is the finished build

I ordered the shogun. That rifle looks really SHARP! Which DonnyFL did you go with? I'm looking at the Yokozuna w/QD. I like the modular design in case it's still a little loud in .30 cal, you can always add another baffle.
Well, the new black barrels I would guess are from a newer batch so I’m wondering if my 30 I just got will be great. Just waiting for the knock at my door to say my moderator is here. Lol.Update on the .30 Skout Evo that I originally posted about 6 pages ago. The one with the .30 SubMOA that I wasn't impressed with. I have been shooting the gun as a .25 caliber with an FX 700mm Superior 1:24 liner and Daystate Rangemaster 34 grain pellets. Very accurate, but not as accurate and precise and my .30 caliber gold Epoch.
After discussion with Skout, I ended up returning the .30 SubMOA barrel and in exchange, Skout sent me a .22 SubMOA, which I received yesterday. Initial inspection is excellent, rifling looks perfect, crown and leade are very good. MUCH better than the .30 version that I had originally. It also looks great, because it's been (painted? blued/blacked? epoxied?) a flat black color that goes perfect with the orange Evo. Yes, mine was orange before the ST Limited Edition! Thanks so much Skout, customer service is second to none!
I'll try and shoot it this coming weekend to see how it does. It is a pellet barrel 1:22 twist with no choke. I'll try the RD Monster 25.4 grain pellets and also the AEA version. I'll probably start around 960 fps since that's the speed that has worked for me in the past with these pellets. We'll see how it does with flyers, since that's why I moved away from .22 RDMs in the first place.
Barrels will be finished on future orders to prevent rust on future orders.I'm told that the black barrels were a one-off production. I wouldn't expect those on future orders.
Skout, thanks for chiming in! Sent you guys an email on Tuesday, waiting on a response.Hi everyone, after reviewing this thread we would like to address a few things. We started offering SubMOA barrels to customers after competing with these barrels in competition and realizing how well they perform. A couple of weeks before RMAC we received a small amount of barrels and machined them to mount onto our skouts and they performed flawlessly. No polishing, lapping, or other processes were completed. At RMAC, we had Bill Gardner shoot the highest card of day 1 in competition, and Luke Sowinski finished 8th with these barrels. This is when we determined we needed to offer this barrel to customers. Every barrel that we receive from sub moa gets tested at 100 yards. If the barrel does not perform at sub-MOA or better, it does not leave the factory. All barrels are shot in by either Keith Short, Bill Gardner, or Luke Sowinski. The scratches on the lands are from the honing process, and sub-MOA says this does not harm the pellets. In regards to the feeling where there is a choke - this is not okay. The sub-MOA barrels do not have a choke and if you are experiencing this, please email us at [email protected] with [email protected] CC'd. We will be happy to help sort any issues out.
Mike, I'm looking forward to what you can do with the .22 barrel. Maybe it will do well the JSB Grands or JTS 22's.I stand by what I originally posted regarding the .30 SubMOA in the orange EVO. And like I also said sometimes you just get a lemon. I know of more than four that have received these barrels and they are excellent. In fact, good enough to win EBR 2024 and also come in 4th.
Skout made this right for me by asking me to return the barrel and sending me a .22 SubMOA pellet barrel. I wasn’t too upset about the .30 since the barrel I have in the gold Epoch was good enough to shoot 241-242 at the 75 yard qualifier rounds at EBR 2024, which was 2nd in my 40 man relay right behind Thayne Simmons.
So I’m looking forward to seeing what this .22 SubMOA can do. Prior to JSB pellet issues with RD Monsters I shot .22 successfully in my Daystate Red Wolf HP (Bleu). I like what Jeff Hernandez did at EBR 2024 by shooting a .22 with RD Monsters in the 75 yard qualifying rounds then shifting up .30 caliber AEA 50.5 in the 100Y finals. It seems (and of course I could be wrong) that out to 75 yards the .22 offers better precision possibility than .30 or .25. Who knows? But I’m going to find out for myself.
Possibly. I have some JSB RD Monsters , some of the FX variant, the AEA 25.4 and the JSB 34 grain Beasts. We’ll see.Mike, I'm looking forward to what you can do with the .22 barrel. Maybe it will do well the JSB Grands or JTS 22's.

Mike, that’s with the LW bull barrel correct? What BC are you getting from those JTS 22.07 at what speed? Thanks.Me too.
I think the beasts might be interesting, but it going to push the regulators to get them zipping..was much easier to get the velocity with the 34" barrel
I really wasn't testing above 970fps when i did early test on those pellets
i was trying to find a setting in the high 800's to low 900's ..might need to revisit at a higher fps since my notes stop at 970
currently, the JTS 22.07 are working out the best at 50 and 100
.06bc@975fpsMike, that’s with the LW bull barrel correct? What BC are you getting from those JTS 22.07 at what speed? Thanks.
Damn, that's some outstanding shooting!.06bc @975
.06bc@975fps
Yes, the bull barrel
Edit..980-985fps was a little bit better or more gooder 100 yards BC=.062
