Skout .30 Skout EVO SubMOA

I'm told that the black barrels were a one-off production. I wouldn't expect those on future orders.
I was initially expecting just the bare metal barrel, so I was going to put a chrome wrap on it to make it look like a polished barrel and protect it from rust and finger prints. I could also do a carbon wrap on it as. But since this came with a really nice black finish, I think I’ll just leave it alone..

Well here she is kids!! Except for my Donny FL moderator that’s coming to quiet this beast today. Here is the finished build ❤️❤️
.30 SubMoa barrel, 700cc tank. Delta Striker 5-50 scope.

That rifle looks really SHARP! Which DonnyFL did you go with? I'm looking at the Yokozuna w/QD. I like the modular design in case it's still a little loud in .30 cal, you can always add another baffle.
I ordered the shogun. 🤷‍♂️
I’ve never owned any Donnie FL moderators before so we’ll see if this one’s a good fit.
Just shooting my 177 with the Skout barrel and the stock air stripper I was getting 105 dB. 😟

I've only had DonnyFL moderators, and I've always thought they were very good. I think the air stripper in my Evo (.22 cal) may do well at stripping excess air from destabilizing the pellet, but I am not real impressed with the sound moderation. I can't imagine what a .30 would sound like. I had Shoguns on both of my Impacts and was very pleased. I think you'll be happy with it, particularly in .177 cal.

Update on the .30 Skout Evo that I originally posted about 6 pages ago. The one with the .30 SubMOA that I wasn't impressed with. I have been shooting the gun as a .25 caliber with an FX 700mm Superior 1:24 liner and Daystate Rangemaster 34 grain pellets. Very accurate, but not as accurate and precise and my .30 caliber gold Epoch.

After discussion with Skout, I ended up returning the .30 SubMOA barrel and in exchange, Skout sent me a .22 SubMOA, which I received yesterday. Initial inspection is excellent, rifling looks perfect, crown and leade are very good. MUCH better than the .30 version that I had originally. It also looks great, because it's been (painted? blued/blacked? epoxied?) a flat black color that goes perfect with the orange Evo. Yes, mine was orange before the ST Limited Edition! :sneaky: Thanks so much Skout, customer service is second to none!

I'll try and shoot it this coming weekend to see how it does. It is a pellet barrel 1:22 twist with no choke. I'll try the RD Monster 25.4 grain pellets and also the AEA version. I'll probably start around 960 fps since that's the speed that has worked for me in the past with these pellets. We'll see how it does with flyers, since that's why I moved away from .22 RDMs in the first place.

Well, the new black barrels I would guess are from a newer batch so I’m wondering if my 30 I just got will be great. Just waiting for the knock at my door to say my moderator is here. Lol.
