Hello douger,

Sorry to hear that you not up to speed, I surely understand that. Not to worry, take your time and get to feeling better those airguns will still be there waiting for you.

Have a great weekend,

Hello everyone,

I would like to apologize for any misunderstanding for my Card entry dated 07/08/2022 and at this time adjust the overall score. I misunderstood the Rules as posted on this Forum:

Here are the scoring rules:
""If the hole touches the next higher ring, score to the higher ring. Use a pellet, skirt down, if the hole is ragged.
To score an X, you just need to touch the black dot in the center. (This is different than the instructions on the bottom of the target, due to us shooting at 30-yards)

To score a 10, you just need to touch the gray ring surrounding the black dot.
Once you shoot all 24 bulls, you get to eliminate your lowest two sets (mulligans) see the target above how I slashed out my two lowest pairs.
Score the remaining 20 targets for a Max score of 200. Also add your X's if you have any.

So a perfect score would be 200 20X. Please post up your scores and what rifle you are shooting. Have fun!!""

For clarification of my original Entry and a better understanding of how I determined an XX, I am attaching photo “Adjusted Score-1". This photo shows a 22 Scoring Plug inserted in the first target in Section 3 and the portion of the Bull covered by the Scoring Plug.

I am submitting a “COPY” of my original Card ( photo Adjusted Score-2 ) showing the adjusted score for a total of five XX’s which now shows that I have marked them to be a single X. The total score of 200 remains unchanged. The adjusted score should now read: Score 200 with 15-XX and 5-X.

Have a great day,
ThomasT

Excellent shooting ThomasT, I’m totally ready for you to shoot cigarettes out of my lips at 30 yards now!
Seriously though it’s been fun watching you do it, and thanks for sharing all the steps and pellet testing along the way.
Now it’s no problem getting the little bell target hole is it lol!
Edit: I just saw you adjusted your score T, a true sportsman through and through 😊, still a fabulous score!
I’m getting closer and closer to a 200 so watch out!!

I shot a 50 yard ARA match today. Shot a perfect XX but couldn’t see it through my scope because my center dot reticle covered it up. I got distracted and shot a second shot into that same bull. The computer scored that bull as a 100 but when I looked close I saw 2 holes and had to bring it to the match directors attention that it was actually a zero score because I shot two shots into one scoring square. Arrrgggh, I feel your pain Thomas, but doing the right thing will allow you to rest your head on your pillow in peace.

Hello Dave,
You are too good of a friend to smoke a nasty cigarette, so you are safe :p
It has been a labor of love for me to mess around with all the testing and enjoy sharing those results.
I have shot the ^%$%^ out of your little bell, so much so that I just repainted the face again. That is a fun and challenging target that you make.
I am truly sorry for posting the incorrect Card. When I was invited to join this event I printed out a copy of the rules from page one and that is how I scored my Card, my mistake .
As accurate as your are with that Wolf, I am surprised you haven't already hit that 200.

Have a great day and get out and shoot a bunch today,
ThomasT

Hello igolfat8,

Thank you sir. I am 81 years old and the way that my parents raised me, I have never once had any problems being at peace with myself. I am not only old, but I am also "old fashion".

Have a wonderful day,
ThomasT

I have to say this challenge is fun. I haven't submitted pics and I shoot one or two sheets about once a week for a change of pace. It is harder than it looks!
My best was a 190, the rest are low to mid 180's. My biggest downfall is I always have two bad pairings. Like real bad. lol If I could eliminate those so that a couple of 18's were eliminated instead of a couple of 16's maybe I could beat my 190! Yesterday I had a 15, followed by back to back 20's with three X's followed by a 16! Oh the pain! My main thing to work on is to slow down.

Thanks ThomasT, good reminder. I want to make sure I am scoring correctly.

XX - let me fact check my understanding. If your scoring plug completely covers the dot, it scores as an XX.
Just touches the dot, but not completely covers it, it is just an X. Correct?
Hello tommyb,

I guess that is the way it is being scored now. If you look at the rules posted on page one of this contest this scoring does not show. I was unaware of any changes and scored my Card by what is posted. Maybe Tom tcarlson777 will provide a new updated method for scoring.

Have a great day,
ThomasT

always wondered about a score plug sems like iv herd a few different sizes
I have a set of scoring plugs from joining the N50 league. I have .177, .22, .25 and a .30 cal scoring plugs. For this 30 yard contest I use the .224” .22 caliber scoring plug. I think Mike N has offered to send a plug if someone needs one. PM him and check.
Tom

That is correct @tommyb.
I wish to submit a target I have been sitting on for a while as the current discussion on scoring provides a chance to demonstrate the need to use a scoring plug and magnification to score a target accurately. I realize this is strictly a fun match game with nothing but bragging rights at stake and I hope many more players get involved and hooked on bench-rest shooting.
If you look carefully at the two targets in block twelve you will see what appear to be almost identical hits but different scores. My experience tells me that it is impossible to score a XX if the .177 pellet cuts through the nine-ring on the 30 yd target being utilized. Please correct me if you disagree.

Hello guys, been reading through this thread and was curious to test my skills. Currently own 1 gun, the Leshiy 2 with a 450mm AP barrel. Reg set at 105 or 110. Pellet of choice is jsb 18gr going 860-870fps.

I tried to take best pics of my targets that I could. I don't have scoring plug but can anyone check my card to see if my scoring is at least close/correct?

Target set at 30 yards. Used a sang bag and my shoulder. My goodness I felt every single shot I pulled! Gun is very accurate but also very light. Not quite a target trigger. Now I know I need to pay more attention to the way I hold the gun.

A helpful aid in scoring is to use a pellet skirt down. Center it on the hole and see if it cuts the line of the next higher circle. I saw several instances where you could have taken the higher number. I’m impressed you only have one gun! I have seen a lot of your posts regarding different rifles, so you must sell guns regularly. I’m trying to keep a max of two rifles and it’s not easy.
