30-Yard Challenge

Great shooting, @ThomasT! Your new RAW is shooting very well.
Hello Tom and thank you this is an accurate rifle. I ordered the wrong Bipod, it is too short so I am having to jury-rig how I shoot from the benchrest. I will take it and the Monopod off and go back to shooting from some bags and the bag jack. Maybe I can move a couple of those 9's over just a hair :)

Ok. I shot 2 cards today. I am sure I can do better as the Cv Life 6x24 50mm retical covers the 10 ring. I doubt it will be a lot better though.

TX 200 beech at 30 yards using AA 8.44 gr Diabolo 4.51 heads. 6x24 CVLife scope set at 24x. Retical obscures the 10 ring.

Weather was decent. There was a 0 to 7 mph wind coming right to left. Temp was 83 to 86 degrees Fahrenheit.

The front rest was a caldwell rock br with towels. Rear was a Protekor #13. Wood bench was not solid but ok.

Scored using an ARA .22 plug.

Scores
157
152

I was using the CVLife scope at 50 and 100 yards as it had holdover marks. I dropped a Mueller 40x56 target scope I use for more precision work back on the TX200 tonight.

I should be better prepared next time out.

I guess being able to see your target helps. I dropped a Mueller 40x56mm scope on my AA Tx200 III. Shooting AA 8.44gr Diabolo 4.51 mm pellets. The scope has a bubble level. Shooting from a modified free recoil style Caldwell BR front and Protekor #13 rear. The wood bench is not great nor comfortable but it did not cause any issues.

Tgw wind from my back 0 to 5 mph. It was 82 degrees Fahrenheit moderate humidity. Partly sunny.

Card 1: 171 3x
Card 2: 162 1x

Hello Drpietrzak,

One of my PCP rifles' scope has a 30-30 reticle and it completely covers the center dot . I re-zeroed the scope so that the center dot is in the upper right corner of the reticle. It is very accurate to shoot this way.

I tried some of my other PCPs but the scores were not very good. My Avenger seemed to want to shoot sometimes, I got a few 20, 2Xs, but it did not seem to hold zero. I had to keep messing with the West Hunter 4-16 scope. Could have been the gun too. Need to try a different scope to know. I think it was 170something.

I tried my little Prod which wears a Hawke 2-7 scope. That score was even lower but it did get a couple Xs. It's a really hard target to see at 7X.

My P35 in 25 was a disaster, I just stopped. It was windy but still... I like the Primary Arms 4-14 scope it wears but the recticle is thick for this target. But that makes it possible to use this FFP scope with the power turned down. Not sure why I couldn't shoot better with it today.

I think I have confirmed my P35-22 is my best gun for this game. I cleaned it's barrel and the first magazine looked like I'd ruined the gun. It gradually got better and by the time I had 25 shots through it the scatter stopped. I should probably put another scope on the Avenger, however. It is so long I don't really want to hunt with it but it is easy to shoot from the bench. But with the POI dancing around I'd rather use the P35-22.

My best scopes for this game are the Athlon Talos 6-24x50 on my P35-22 and the Primary Arms 4-16 on my P35-177. Both are SFP. Both have fine reticles which makes target use easier. Neither is a high end scope but they work.

First official card with my new to me RTI Prophet in 177. Shooting JSB 13.43 MRDs at 850fps. This rifle has a 200 in it, if I can do my part. I'm still getting it tuned to my liking.

Hello Tom,

That is an excellent start with the new Rifle and Scope. A little bit of fine tuning and you getting more comfortable with the setup and the 200 will come.
