30-Yard Challenge

OK, I sucked it up and braved the cold 🥶 in 24*F and 12-15 MPH swirling winds today and shot a few cards before my fingers got numb. Shot my Prophet .22 Compact using 18 grain AA’s with a 10x SWFA scope. Used my N50 .22 rimfire plug to score the targets. I’m sure I could do better in less wind, warmer temperatures and with more power on my scope but this is just my hunting gun so all these targets are certainly “minute of squirrel”.

Tom, Tim, Allen - thanks guys.

Hoping for a light wind day in the next week or so to shoot my FX Royale 400 .22 and the HW100 .22. I normally can expect a ragged hole at 20-25 yards from the bench (5-shot groups) with both of these ‘squirrel’ backyard guns, so it will be interesting to see if I can shoot the JSB 18.1 for a decent score at 30 yards. I honestly believe I will be lucky to break 190, but that’s the fun of trying different rifles.

Raining and windy here today. Keep posting guys and let’s see more cards from other members and various rifles. 😉

Omg so for whatever reason, probably more mental than anything I always do my best when I start and have a heck of a time doing better (too much mental pressure?) My uragan shoots pretty fantastic inside of 50 yards (have not taken outside of the yard) and once situated with a clean barrel, within the first couple cards got a 195. Well I have not been able to surpass that. So I started using the mk2 impact and best after several cards was still a shy 194. The other night I basically given up and while shooting with a light I was finally able to do a 196. Lol this is not easy! 😅

The target work is paying off. Had a starling that kept pecking at a window today and it was an easy dispatch! Don’t know if was a 10x or a 9 but he went down hard.

Now that was funny Tom.

If the hole touched the red dot on his head and you promise that you used a .224" scoring plug on the Starling, we'll give you a "10-X"

😊😊😊

In your #1 ( top left ) target, it looks like the 9 is really a 10. If so, you have a 197, which is great! Not sure if you used a scoring plug, but it sure looks like a 10.

Regardless, vg scoring!

Wow, you’ve got that MKII dialed in. Nice shooting.

Thanks,

The mk2 is my Lego gun and I flip-flop the configuration constantly from .22, .25, to .30 from 500mm to 700 from liner to liner and 300 cc bottle to 700cc. It was purchased as a .22 compact originally and was wearing a .30 cal 700 barrel just 4 weeks ago at the range. I cranked down the settings and was shooting .22 30 gr slugs at 200 with a 700mm barrel 2 weeks ago. I cranked it down again to shoot 18 gr pellets on these cards. I think it is most accurate with the .22 500 in superior and superior heavy configuration but did not put that barrel on. I am surprised it shot so well with the recent changes and not much tuning. It's been easier to tune now that i have played with it so much.

I’m dizzy trying to keep up with your numerous FX configurations and various calibers, liners, tuning, etc. I’m not a tinkerer but totally respect and understand the many who enjoy doing this. My most complicated ( and only ) FX gun is my Royale. Nothing to do, just shoot.

The most I like to do is clean my AG barrels and adjust HSTs. In fact, I love the simplicity of shooting my two Anschutz RFs too as much as Air Guns. No tuning required with the RF’s.

It’s great to have options that suit everyone.

Tommy I get bored easily. I say I want a AG that can do a certain thing well and well... Either I get bored of it doing exactly what I wanted or if it is not doing what it is supposed to do I want to open it up and start tinkering. 🤪

Luckily so far I only tore appart the uragan once to remove a stuck pellet. I want to put a huma reg in it but holding back as it does what it is supose to do... mostly... er

Plus I have way too many projects as it is.
