30-Yard Challenge

Mike

Is your suggestion directed at just those shooters who have already shot a 200-18x ( or better) to get rid of the two mulligan’s and try their luck without the mulligan’s? I think so, but just want to clarify.

Tom Carlson - Would you consider removing the mulligan’s for everybody? I don’t have a preference, but I would not want that to be a disincentive to folks who may think that is too difficult. Or, like Mike is suggesting, there could be a “master’s” version for those who have shot 200-18x or better.

Interesting idea and this is ‘evolving’ like Serena’s version of retirement.
Tommy, yes. I know I haven't shot these yet but I will after EBR - and I'll also find out its not as easy as it looks. Is there a caliber limit?

You can shoot .177 to .30 caliber, but the leaderboard brackets various scenarios. If you look back two or three pages, Tom posts the new leaderboards with the changes. Net: there is a .177 category, under $800 gun category, Springer Category, and a high end gun category ( .22, .25, .30).

The rules are the same for all currently.

Well, got a few minutes this afternoon to sneak in a target. Definitely not spectacular, no X’s. Don’t have a bench, so shot off sticks HFT style with Daystate Revere in .22. Maybe I’ll get some time to relax and improve upon this one. But still had fun pulling the trigger.

Hello Bam86,

That is some very good shooting off of Sticks, and I believe the first target on #10 is an X.

My score off stick with this target would be 23.

It might be, I don’t have a plug, so usually am more critical of my scores.
Also forgot to mention that since this is my squirrel rig, scope only goes up to 10x, and it is sighted I. For 40 yards. Had to guesstimate the hold under.

Hello @tcarlson777,

I submit this card in the .22 cal Class Competition. This is my RAW HM1000X .22cal shooting JSB Jumbo Monster Redesigned 25.39 gr pellets. A hot 81 degrees this morning with high humidity but with 0 to 2mph wind.

ThomasT
Congrats, that's fine shooting.

OK, ThomasT - time to sprinkle some of that 'magic airgun dust' on my RAW HM1000x shooting those same MRDs. Have not been able to get a perfect score yet, but I keep tryin'

First target with my new Daystate Huntsman Revere in .22. Shooting JSB Exact Jumbo Diablo in 15.89 grain at an average of 880FPS. Needless to say, I am VERY happy with this rifle! Scope is a Riton 1 Competition FFP in 6-24x50. It was darn near dead calm outside, but temperature was killing me at 100F with humidity around 30%.

@ThomasT - Wow, great shooting with your RAW! You now have the highest score in the .22 and up category since we reset the scores in August.
Hello Tom and thank you, I had another really fun day shooting this morning. I thought I was going to get a 20-X but kind of went nuts there at the end 🤪 . I would like to thank you for all the time and effort to keep this competition going. There is a bunch of people that are having a lot of fun with this event.

Hello tommyb,

Well it looks like I ran out of that dust towards the end .

Thank you,

Bam86 - that was really good shooting for 10X off sticks. I tried my little Prod with it's Hawke 2-7 and the score was so low I did not submit it. Even my guns with 14 or 16X seem a little under magnified. I can see the target but not the 10 ring or X. With 24 power, I can see the entire target and I think as a result I shoot a little better.

Anyway, here is a modest improvement in the score of my P35-22 which uses an Athlon Talos 6-24x50 scope and H&N Baracuda Match 21.14 pellets. I shot this Monday morning but had computer trouble until a few minutes ago. I shot a 193 with 10X first using a fresh tin of pellets from Pyramid air. Then I decided to shoot another sheet with a dented tin I got more recently from Amazon. To my surprise it was a 194 9X. Dent on the pellet tin evidently did not turn into deformed pellets inside the tin. The tin was dented enough I had to use slip joint pliers to get it open. I shot a couple more sheets after that but did not get out of the high 180s. But that's good enough I don't think the pellets are the issue.

I have been using wind flags I made out of a stick in the ground sign like I sometimes use for targets. Very inexpensive but seem to work fine. But I only get fairly good scores in low wind - I can see when it's blowing but allowing for it is not in my skill set yet.

Anyway, here is the 194 9X followed by a picture of one of my home made wind flags.
