30mm scope rings for an Akela

I'm looking for some 30mm scope rings for my Akela. I purchased some UTG PRO high profile rings, and they don't fit. The metal bit that's supposed to fit in between the grooves on the Picatinny rail is too wide. Might just avoid this brand in the future. Any high profile rings that are confirmed to fit?

Yep, I believe the Akela rail is Weaver, not Picatinny. UTG Pro won’t fit it.

If that's the case, Benjamin needs to update their website. They only mention a Picatinny rail. On the other hand, it's possible that the UTG is slightly oversized. I have Picatinny bipod of theirs, and as a test I tried mounting it on the scope rails. Fits fine, while the scope rings don't fit on either the scope or bipod mounts.

My Akela used picatinny rings. I got them through Pyramid. I tried to look the order up so as to give you which ones they are but, they don't go that far back on past sales. Call them and they'll guide you through it. Good luck

I have setup 2 Akelas and both use a cheap set of 30mm picatinny mounts - one is Sportsmatch and the other is a Hawke. I got both from AoA.

It took a while, but I finally solved the problem. The grooves on the Akelas' scope rail are indeed narrower than spec. A little research tells me that the grooves for a Picatinny rail should be 5.25mm in width. The Akelas' grooves are only ~4.89mm wide with the cross bar on the UTG rings being ~5.19mm in width, so of course they didn't fit. I ended up returning the UTGs and purchasing some Leupold Weaver rings. There is, of course, more slop than there should be, but pushing them forward as far as they go and tightening things down fixes that.

So, yeah, buyer beware. And unless Akela scope rail dimensions vary wildly (both my first and second Akelas have the same problem), none of them are properly specced Picatinny rails.
