Tuning 30mm threaded shroud extension

I run a Taipan Veteran Compact with a plenum extension, so my air tube is longer than my shroud end. That limits my moderator choice for this platform.

A friend of mine owns a CAD company, with a manufacturing facility in Vietnam. I asked him to do a CAD drawing of a sketch I made for a threaded adapter so I can use a larger diameter moderator on the end of the Veteran. I'm not going to post his drawing due to copyright stuff, but here is my sketch. Units will be anodized satin black. If anyone else is in my boat and wants one, PM me and let me know.

I got some pricing on these today. if I order just one for myself, its going to run me about $70, if I order 2, it will run about $40, 3 @ $30, and 10, less than $20. If you want one, please PM me. Thanks for looking. These are designed for the Taipan Veterans with a plenum extension and will be 1/8' in front of the air tube, but they also may work with other 30mm shrouds

OK, finally got these yesterday and here's my full report, good bad, and ugly. Ugly, these are NOT! Seems like the machining and the anodizing on these is top notch. The anodizing is slightly more satin than the Taipan Vet OEM shroud. And they weigh in at 2.36 oz, so not too bad.

And they came exactly 1/8" longer than the air tube, so clearance will allow a wider diameter shroud.

If you run an extension without a shroud, the male end is a little proud with the end cap threaded on. Maybe a couple wave washers or nylon 1/2" nylon washer to flush it out

And they seem to shoot great. The top target is stock, without an adapter, And moving to the right, I shot a couple shots out of each. At the 6 O'clock position I ganged all three of them together and the pellets dropped and moved left. And with 2 ganged, pretty much back to normal.

Now for the bad. I have an inexpensive ($35) FX Wildcat shroud, the type that you can add sections to. The end cap has an inverted conical profile, And my hypothesis is that's how FX can get a hollow tube to dampen the report. The shroud did not like the extension, the pellets clipped the cone of the exit hole. Now maybe I got a bum shroud, maybe the bore diameter isn't inline with the rifle. Or maybe the Taipan doesn't play well with the inverted cone design of the FX shroud. I don't have any other cheap shrouds I can experiment with, and I'm not going to risk putting an expensive shroud on the rifle only to see that the baffles clipped. Some of you guys have expressed interest in these. But without further testing, I'm not sure I ought to endorse these. I should add that my gun was a .25 compact FWIW. I guess that's all for now, wish it would have worked for me. Actually, when I run 2 together, the sound is dampened. But when the shroud was attached, the sound was a soft "poof"
