Tuning 4 month old Impact valve stuck...

so I called fx usa last month. they sent me out 2 oring's and a valve seat. put the seat in the bottle valve and all is good. Till today. valve wont hold air yet again.

I'm now thinking that the valve is bad and out of spec. I do swap bottles and the older used bottle i got is holding up fine. so I know it isn't my fill source issue. which is a yong heng compressor. I pulled the needle and seat and every time I set it back into place. hit a few bars of pressure gauge on the pump jumps and stalls out. open bleeder and sure enough valve seat is dislodged again. I have tried this several time and the seat continues to pop out.

What am I not seeing that keeps causing it to pop out of place as soon as air hits it. i do snap it a few times before the vavle goes in to make sure it sits where it should
 
That's your problem, it will blow the valve seat almost every time.

When attached to the gun the valve is pushed open, but when using the adapter it relies on only air pressure to open the valve, so the way the FX bottle valve is designed there is nothing to retain the valve seat when only air pressure is used to open it.

I squawked and jumped up and down about the Huma adapter causing this problem but fell on deaf ears.

Check Best fittings if you want an adapter the will work, I just ordered one yesterday.

If you want a home-brew solution to use the Huma you can machine a spacer to use between the valve seat and valve assembly where it threads apart.

I made a couple from the right size arrow shaft and worked but didn't fit quite right.

And don't be fooled with the restrictor screw they now include it is supposed to reduce the air flow so slow that it won't blow, push the valve seat out of it's seat but nada won't work either, may once or twice.

You can also buy Best Fittings replacement valve for FX bottles as it's built different and will work with the Huma but they aren't cheap plus if you have multiple bottles it cheaper to buy the adapter, it does look a little clumsy to use but should work ok.

There's nothing wrong with the FX VALVE it's just not designed to work without having it screw onto the gun as when it is it mechanically pushes the valve open.

I had some problems with the spacer I made as well but mine was very crude, I had issues with the id size as the valve pin spring assembly would hang up after filling but the seat would remain in place.

And make sure the orings around the valve seat isn't nicked, that happened on mine, the return force of air coming from the bottle tries to push the valve seat back in place and can get cocked and damage the o rings.

Understand, I don't remember and at work but found the orings and ordered 20 even bought a new valve from Best Fittings and haven't used any of it after I figured out what was happening, even FX said the adapter should work from Huma, but at least on newer bottles it's definitely problematic others say it works fine , but I know better.

All anyone has to do is disassemble the valve, study it for a moment and will see why it happens.

Good luck and check out the adapter from Best Fittings , I have one on the way.
