Tuesday i received the Ranger XR, minus the grub screw for the trigger blade to keep from moving on the trigger post, but AOA is taking care of me by sending out a grub screw priority mail.
However, I can still use the gun and I have been looking at some shot to shot consistency and how many actual shots I can get fro a charge within the “optimal” shot curve. AOA says up to 20 shots, well yup it is 20 in the rated range from a full charge, maybe 22 before the FPS of the pellets starts to dive.
Pellets I have been toying with between Zoom work meeting today are as follows:
I tapped in the pellets so they were snug. I am not factoring which one the gun likes most, i can determine that with 9 yards, this will come Saturday.
Also, my Accushot Atlas bipod showed up, the knock off is now forgotten. Anyone want a free bipod? You only pay shipping PM if interested. (Yes to me I notice a difference).
So here is my findings: Power range hovered in the 15 FPE for the Crossman and 16-17 FPE for the JSB and H&N pellets.
The JSB Jumbo Heavies were the most consistent with STD for 20 3.7 FPS. Hades and 18s 5-6 ish FPS and Crossman a STD 12 FPS. Will this match up on the target grouping Saturday, NO IDEA. I am praying the gun likes the hades because I like using them so much in the field.
The ranger with its new digs. Also, can’t remember but I swear the cocking handle on 22 ranger is longer than the 177 ranger. It is super nice too having the length.
