.50 cal Double Barrel Air Shot Gun

This has been discussed a few times but I really like the quality of this gun even though it is severely limited in its use. I use it to spook off the dozens of geese that poop ten tons on my yard.

SENECA by Air Ventom. South Korea makes some awesome air guns which sort of surprises me that they are into that market as so many other countries are.

Is the airgun market slowing down with the odd world situation?

Again, love looking at this shotgun on the wall. It also does excellent shooting .50 cal airbolts!

I wonder if there's any way to roll your own cartridges? Maybe with paper tubes or empty gel capsules? One of the things that turned me off of this when I thought about ordering one was the cost of shot shells.
I used to make my own paper cartridges for my 8mm smoothbore shotgun but found the right size gel caps. I made the tube from paper bags.

Because I don't know how the pellets...bbs..are released or depart from the plastic container.....can someone please explain?
Nice rifle, must be a great arrow chucker. Inertia causes the shell to come apart and the spread of shot begins. Exactly like a powder burner shot shell.

Dogs love to chase geese. Geese hate dogs. Get a hound and make him earn his keep, no more geese!

So what’s your opinion of air shotguns in general? I’ve found them fascinating for ages now, but when I contemplate their actual use I find I have a lot of doubts. Do you find many situations where an air shotgun is actually better suited than a powder burner or is it just more of a love of airguns.
I've used the custom hatsan on several rats and the 1100 on sparrows. Be that at close range, 20 or 30 feet or so. They probably wouldn't be efficient further out. The SENECA will take rabbits, quail, dove etc... out further. Plenty of video on YouTube

PB,s are suited better, so for me it's the love of airguns.

I have had a Double Shot for a couple of years now and I really like mine. Not really powerful for much over about 30 yds. but not too bad. I have had some luck with loading two shells in the same barrel. You get a much better pattern. If you want more power I would recommend the Wing Shot 2 single barrel because you can do power mods to it like they do for the Dragon Claw but they don't work for the Double Shot. The ammo works pretty well but can be hard to find and EXPENSIVE. I bought 20 boxes about a year ago when I found a sale. I buy the empty ones and load my own (much cheaper). They actually work pretty good on small game like rats and sparrows. I saw a thread a few years ago wear a guy used small tungsten shot and took a turky with a head shot with a Wing Shot.
I read a thread someware that a guy was using plastic test tubes to make shells as he could make them a little longer if you wish. If you do a little research on here and some other airgun forums and you will find a lot of info on them.

These are what I have started messing around with in my wingshot2. Left to right 1st their premade load of #6 then my hand loaded #6 then a .5oz tube of #6 then 6 #2.5 buckshot .29 caliber. With the regular shot loads some people have been double loading them but you have to be careful to have it far enough in the chamber to not blow back. My tubes I load like a muzzleloading shotgun. I have just started testing it for fun. So far I have put in a foam ear plug sideways then a .50 cal wad. You can put your pinky in the chamber and ram the wads down till you feel it, then you can remove the cap and drop the tube of shot in. Let the tube act as a wad for the shot. If you want you can ram a second .50 cal wad down so if you point the barrel down the shot will not come out. Or you can just ram down the wads and just drop in whatever shot load you need at the moment and let her fly. In my first test I did not use the choke but it will fit in the choke so you can. My gun is also not sighted in yet, I am waiting for some sand bags to come so I can bench shoot to sight in. All my tests have been at 25 yards off hand. without adjusting sights just for fun. Next I will try just using the .50 cal wads and no earplug. Not sure if that will work or not.

So I bought these tubes from Amazon for the shot, some foam ear plugs, some 50 cal wads for muzzleloaders and some shot. I use one of the airbolts as a ram rod. I duck taped the fletching down tight against the shaft to get it out of the way without cutting it off and I used some duck tape around the shaft just to show the depth when everything is seated all the way down. I also removed the o-ring on the bolts knock so it would be easy to use. If the wads are seated you can just drop the tube of shot in it is smaller so will just drop all the way down. As I said I just put my pinky in the chamber so I can feel the wad to know it is seated were I want it. You can get tubes that are longer to hold more shot or just dump the amount of shot in you want without using the tube as a wad but the more shot the less FPS so you would have to play with it to see what works best. Personally I like the tube as a wad because I think it would help to make the pattern tighter but I will do a lot more messing with it when the sand bags get here. The link goes to the tubes I bought. Next time I will try using the chokes and I will try it without the ear plug and also just dumping in the shot without using the tube as a wad. The tube having a cap makes it really nice for having extra loads in your pocket. So again I put in a ear plug sideways mashed together and then a 50cal wad ram them down then drop in the tube of shot without the cap then I use another 50cal wad ramed down but not needed unless you might point the barrel down for some reason and could dump the shot out. Works good so far just need to try the chokes and adjust the red dot. Another thing I will try is using a round ball then the cup on top of it with a few buckshot then a wad. I will weigh it all to keep it around 350gn or less.
