@B I’m not familiar with the brand other than reading members’ posts about it. Those are impressive looking rifles. Are you a competition FT shooter? Extreme long range shooter? Do you only shoot for fun? Do any hunting with that rifle? What caliber is it?

God I hate the f'ing Internet. (And that from someone who's been doing IT since before the Internet was the Internet - if you've ever used NCSA Mosaic, know what browser it was the predecessor of, and what college town it was developed in be the first to post it here and I'll send you a tin of pellets of your choice - and be honest - no looking it up on said Internet)
They should make your drivers license be displayed next to your posts - that would shut a lot of blow hards up real quick.

Now - back to spending your imaginary $6K.

NCSA Mosaic immediate predecessor of Netscape Browser (but also credited in many other browsers if you look closely enough).

Developed in Champaign-Urbana, IL (U of I).

Keep the pellets, I just wanted to answer. I attended the U of I for a few years as an undergraduate and remember playing around in Mosaic when there were only handful of "www" sites on the internet. Gopher was the thing back in that day (1993), but man did things explode in 1994!

@ezana4ce I'm not a big competition shooter or a good shooter at all just an average one.

I'm into airguns for the past 13 years and did start with FT 12 years ago just going around and having fun with other guys shooting guns.

Then I didn't shoot for a while because of life and work, but I did decide to start shooting "competition" again last year and I also join this forum, I meet lots of good people this past year, but yes basically I shoot for fun. As for the guns in the pictures first one it's my .177 Steyr LG110 AZ modified with NF NX8 4-32x50, MEC but hook, MEC trigger, Atlas bipod, Burris XTR rings, ARCA and Picatinny rails, Custom grip, lever handle, and cheekpiece.

The second gun is a Thomas with wood stock own by @steve123 I don't remember the exact details but they are somewhere in his post describing everything. I don't do any hunting, I'm most of a target shooter but I do pest control around my house and I do own other good quality guns in .22 .25 and 30 cal but LG 110 always be my favorite... unless i get Thomas.

I guess a dilemma for me at the moment is that I don't have a need for an airgun that reaches past 100 yards. No groundhogs or prairie dogs in my area and I haven't the need to remove any beavers. I can get relatively close to most animals I'd like to hunt in the region. So as for the Daystate and Steyers, I don't have much use for them. FX Impact MKIIIs look interesting, especially the compacts, but I'm not so sure how'd they'd hold up to being knocked around and scratched up in the woods or thickets. I'd still like to try them. Other air rifles I'd like won't cost that much. I can think I can get away with spending $3k on one of a few rifles, around $2200 on glass (or a thermal NV unit) and mounting hardware, another $250 on a bipod and the rest on ammo and minor accessories or maybe a professional tune depending upon the rifle. Some of y'all have posted pics of some really nice rigs.

2L8 pretty much nailed it. If one were to start off a on this hobby first class, do it all right the first time, that’s pretty much the dollar amount- $10K, with the bulk of that coming in the support system. I agree with all comments and replies about taking care of the air support system FIRST, then the shooting platform second.

This is of course directed to someone for sure looking to jump into this and stay in it, not one dabbling in it because powder burner shortages are affecting his shooting desires.

Mark my words, as soon as the powder burner ammo becomes more readily available and the costs drop for consumables such as powder, primers, and lead, the classifieds will be bombarded with hand pumps, Avengers, and Yong Hengs

Funny that you should mention that ... I kind of feel that I am forced back to powder by the local community ... not much support for any airgun over a lowpower .177 Olympic

style gun ... made the mistake of not understanding this when I entered the sport. Love the esthetic and "hate the word" Zen of a quiet clean beautiful accurate Airgun.

My local club and most of the ranges in the area do not allow airguns ... and if I were to practice in my back yard ... would be on a first name basis with the local SWAT.

Great sport ... I may try to find a Match Grade .177 pistol ... club has a 24 hour indoor range with AC ... BTW the heat index here today is 108F. But both of my airguns will

go so that I can keep the club Board of Directors happy ... amazing ... I can shoot .22LR and WMR and my .45ACP and 9mm are fine but a .25 airgun is forbidden.

Go Figure.

Old thread but I’ll contribute as ideas have gone thru my head since this post-

if I had $6K to spend I’d take that and invest it in opening up my own airgun shop. Be a small vendor and an airgun service and repair station. Maybe be an Alkin dealer, and sell a few pellets here and there, and anything HPA related I would carry or service.

not looking to do it full time, just something to keep busy, keep the mind sharp, and extend out the hobby

@bigragu And get to shoot all types of guns you’d sell “to be sure they work correctly before shipping” no doubt. Clever man.
