Daisy 717 fun

Im not sure where all the parts with this gun came from. It has three bolts, two valve assemblys, 3 valves, two safetys, 1 saftey spring and ball, a complete screw and pin set, and a complete set of o rings.
So far I can't tell any real difference between the Daisy and Walther barrels with regard to accuracy, although I haven't gotten real serious with it yet.
I have 300 or so rounds through it so far, but just plinking and I haven't chrony'd it yet.

there is no reason to remove the barrel from the valve at a rebuild so i don't know
of course if you thought you needed a new valve was and you bought it without the barrel
the valve pictured has paint overspray on it and would need to be cleaned at some point if used
it is a who know deal
the pistols were made for so many years it would be hard to say if that changed the barrel to valve interface and there is no need the clock the barrel

there is a thread of a very talented airgun smith that had a problem with a leaking valve and he did everything to fix it and he gave up and bought a new valve and barrel as a new complete part and the problem was solved

i have told people before that these are very easy to fix and work on
but when they leak you can you break out the bowl of water and see where the bubbles come from and go from there and sometimes you can't fix then without a new valve and barrel and that is a problem there are none
old valves and new valve stems have a large chance of not working also

so, they are easy to work on UNTIL THEY ARE NOT
parts are disappearing fast and don't break your rear sight, those are all gone also
and one other thing if you see some parts and you have the money buy them
One thing I like about the 777 is the all steel sight. It is one of the best sights I have seen. Windage, elevation adjustments, plus the notch width is infinetly adjustable.

well, what you bought was a pistol that came with spares confusing maybe a gold mine also maybe
many of us do that when we go down the rabbit hole
it could be extra parts just because they were available and made sense to buy
many of my herd have got a hex wrench added or extra orings or extra parts
the why is a complete package or extra parts makes the pistol rifle easier to sell
extras we all like extras
one thing many of you might not know but when the 717-747 were still being sold you could go to Daisy and buy all the parts and build your own for about 75-80 % of the cost of the factory built pistols
so if you found some parts you would just go buy what you didn't have
yes, the 777 rear sight is a nice sight but as a part long out of availability and you of course need a front sight because the 77 has a taller front sight
we are just caretakers for the most part someone else will own most of everything we own today

And there lies the main reason I still look for one of those! I can make fine adjustments on these plastic sights, with a push of the thumb, but then again they are over extended for my 28.5 yard range. 😁
