8mm smoothbore shotgun

Today I made a new sabot design for my Hatsan 130QE 8mm smoothbore shotgun. This is the fourth generation of sabots I've made. They work the best so far.

The capsule it cut on top with a X. a 1mm hole made in the bottom. a small piece of vegetable fiber wad is pressed into the bottom. 47 to 50 grains of any shot is placed in the cartridge. The top of the capsule is put on and secured tight slightly compressed to fit barrel snug.

You will see in the video a example of a capsule that was not compressed enough. it fell through the barrel * results a dry fire. I'm bad for my own stupid mistakes.

The gun has been modified to a 8mm smoothbore shotgun. The ram is at 160bar. I have tried to choreograph it but the readings with shot is not consistent. Right around 590fps as far as I can tell.

Hope you enjoy my video of a gun that always brings a smile to my face.,

That's a very interesting gun. I remember you talking about that one a long time ago in another video. Did you do the barrel conversion yourself?
You should have someone toss tin cans in the air and shoot at them.
Yes did the work at my with a friend at his machine shop. I could do what you suggested, but shoot solo 99% of the time.

I still have a few pictures of the gun in the shop when we modified

That Hatsan is very powerful. Do you think you can fire a .32 calibre round ball out of it?
I'm sure I would fire a .32 lead ball. A deep hole drilling machine. .32 caliber 8.1 mm long shank reamer bit was used.
There is a brass sleeve pressed into the breech end a little shorter than the sabot to make the capsules fit snug. I'd have to extract it

When I was making paper sabots the sleeve wasn't there. But making paper case's proved time consuming.
