You probably have read or seen previous posts by me questioning why I purchased the Edgun. After at least 400-500 shots with it (I gave it some time as members suggested I should do)I have decided it's not for me. It's accurate. It will probably function perfectly, longer than the Wildcat V2 and if it did need attention it would be infinitely easier for an 'average' Joe like me to repair. I have experimented with the second stage trigger pull weight, which I wouldn't have dared to try with the Wildcat, and I still can't get it where I would like it to be. I adjusted it to the lightest setting I could get it to and reached the point where there was no 1st stage.
The stock moderator on the R5M is plenty quiet. I did add a Donny FL to the Wildcat and off to the side of the guns I would say they are both backyard quiet. However there is a loud hammer strike ping which occurs right next to your ear when you have a good cheek weld and fire the shot with the EDgun. To me, that is terribly annoying. If that can't be quieted, like on a Marauder, it in itself would be a disqualifier for me. If you don't make sure the bolt is totally closed and locked when loading a pellet there is a nasty puff in your ear and a loud noise that also impacts the ear. That can be attributed to operator error and maybe I need to shoot 2000 shots before it 'breaks in' and it will easily latch shut.
The barrels...Both the smooth twist and the Luther Walther barrels are comparably accurate. I have no scientific comparisons I have done but an average guy shooting the rifles in his field's 100 yd. range they are about the same. I couldn't discern any difference. Here's the however...I have read posts on here where folks have said, within a range of 100-500 shots, the barrel on the EDgun needs to be cleaned. On the smooth twist I only need to clean it when the accuracy drops off and I have well over 2500 shots through it and it still hits where it's aimed.
The Wildcat fits me and feels great. The EDgun doesn't.
I'll have to live with the eventuality that sooner or later I will have to send the Wildcat for service or repair. I have built and flown radio control helicopters but going into the Wildcat's internal organs seem to me best left to the FX PCP surgeons.
There is no intent to demean any of the PCPs but rather to express what my experiences have been. If I have angered anyone I apologize and understand please that is and was not the intent. In awhile you'll see the EDgun in the classifieds and the pleasure of the hobby continues as I will be choosing my next PCP experience.
